Quincy Heck Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 2, 2015.
Quincy passed away at his home in North Las Vegas on March 1st, 2015. He was 67 years old. Quincy was born on May 20th, 1947 in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he spent his childhood. He served in the United States Navy as a Corpman, and was stationed on the Shangri-La during Vietnam. He received an honorable discharge, and was relieved from military service on January 4, 1969. Soon after, he graduated from the University of Utah in an accelerated Physician’s Assistant (P.A.) program, where he received his Board Certification. He was a pioneer in his field, and became the very first Board-Certified Physician’s Assistant in the state of Florida. Quincy began his distinguished career as a P.A. in the Department of Justice for the United States Federal Bureau of Prisons at USP, Marion, Illinois— the bureau’s very first super-maximum security penitentiary. He later became a trained member of the Special Operations Response Team (S.O.R.T.), and went on to dedicate 20 years of exemplary service. He retired on June 30th, 2004 as a Hospital Systems Administrator. Quincy was an all-american man. He enjoyed camping, fishing, and traveling across the country with his family to visit historic landmarks. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He had a profound love for his grandchildren, and truly cherished making memories with them. Quincy Thomas Heck, Jr. will forever remain in the hearts of the family he leaves behind - his wife of 32 years, Christi Heck; their children Charles Heck and Jamie Aquino; his sons Quincy Thomas III Rogers and Keith Rogers; his son Michael MacMurray; and his nine beautiful grandchildren.

The Bureau Family has lost a man that dedicated his life to helping others. He never lost sight of the big picture, his family. He was a professional that treated society's worst in a humane manner as he remained vigilant to always protect staff and the public. We fought and survived the wars together, he walked the ranges when others would not he had my back as I had his. His struggle with a terrible disease has ended, it was my honor to be a close friend in a time of need. He has left us with beautiful gifs.,the war stories, his humor, and we shall miss him.
