Rufus Lee (R.L.) Cloud, 68, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2010. He was born in Blountstown, FL August 31, 1941 to Ellis and Velma Cloud. He moved to Bowling Green, FL in 1949. R.L. graduated from Hardee County High School in Wauchula in 1959 and joined the Florida Highway Patrol on August 6, 1959. He was a dispatcher for 44 years and retired in July 2003. He was also an instructor for the Florida Safety Council. R.L. was the husband of Patricia; father to Teresa (Scott) Heuler and Kimberly (John) Carlo; grandfather to Ryan, Patrick, and Madelyn Heuler, John David, and Jessica Carlo; brother to Peggy (Charles) Page, Nicky (Sandra) Cloud, and Gerald (Debbie) Cloud; and brother-in-law to John (Kathie) Clarkson, Louis (Linda) Clarkson and Rose Marie Cloud. He is also survived by Uncle Charlie (Jackie). He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Ferrell. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 29, 2010 from 1-2 p.m. at Florida Memorial Funeral Home, with a funeral service following at 2:00. Entombment will take place at Florida Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to The National Kidney Foundation, the American Diabetes Association, or the American Heart Association in R.L.'s memory.
