R.L. Stephens Obituary

R.L. (Steve) Stephens, age 77, of Florence, died Sunday, Oct. 8, 2006, at ECM Hospital.

He was a native of Lauderdale County. He was a member of Woodmont Baptist Church and was sales manager for Southern Sash for 43 years.

Visitation was Monday evening at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Greenview Memorial Chapel, with entombment to follow in Greenview Memorial Park Love Mausoleum. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Dan Hindman and the Rev. Jerry Rea.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Betty Jean Stephens; parents, Vuin and Lizzie Griffin Stephens; brothers, Vedon and Billy Dale Stephens; two infant sisters; and infant grandson, Quinn Gilliam.

He is survived by his wife, Betty Quinn Stephens; son, Stanley Wayne Stephens and wife, Ginger; daughters, Barbara Joan Padilla and husband, Ray, and Vonda Jean Gilliam and husband, Barry; brothers, Ercell Stephens and wife, Alberta, and Tommy Stephens and wife, Ann; grandchildren, Missy Whitehead and husband, Brett, Andy Bretherick and wife, SaDonna, Amanda, Brittany and Branton Stephens, Luke and wife, Christy, Lacy and Austin Gilliam; and five great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Brett Whitehead, Austin Gilliam, Corey Morgan, Cody Bretherick, Andy Bretherick, Mike Quinn and Branton Stephens.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Woodmont Men's Sunday School Class and Jim Shew, Mike Lovett, Julius Morrison, Lindy Thigpen, Randy Lowry, Josh, Kyle and Matthew Senkbeil.

The family requests that memorials be made to Woodmont Baptist Church Building Fund or Woodmont Stained Glass Window Fund.

Greenview Funeral Home, of Florence, is directing.
