Rachel Sweeney Green

June 30, 1980 - April 30, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Rachel Green, who left us peacefully in her sleep on April 30, 2025, while traveling from Minneapolis to London. Rachel was born on June 30, 1980, in Minnesota, and she touched the lives of everyone she kmet with her kindness and generosity.

Rachel was the beloved daughter of Mary and James Sweeney, and she is preceded in death by her father, James Sweeney, her grandfather, also named James Sweeney, and her grandparents Joan and Edward Stay. She is survived by her devoted mother, Mary Sweeney, her sister Roxanne Carney, her nephew Jack Carney, and her brother-in-law Michael Carney. Rachel is also survived by her brother James Sweeney and sister-in-law Sojin Sweeney, her grandmother Darlene Sweeney, as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and her beloved dog Riley, who was her constant companion.

Rachel's academic journey was as remarkable as her life. She completed her undergraduate studies in History and Classics at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana, before going on to attend Cumberland School of Law in Birmingham, Alabama. Rachel's professional career as a Florida attorney was marked by her genuine desire to help others. She had a particular fondness for Bankruptcy law, believing it was a way to assist individuals in finding hope and a fresh start. Her compassion extended beyond her legal work into her role in Insurance Claims management, where she thrived on helping people uncover their potential.

A true lover of life, Rachel had a deep passion for traveling and took great joy in introducing others to the wonders of the world. Her adventurous spirit was complemented by her love for cooking and trying new foods. A voracious reader and a history enthusiast, Rachel often found herself lost in books, continually seeking knowledge and inspiration. She was the best aunt anyone could ask for, always going above and beyond to support her nephew Jack in his endeavors.

Rachel was known for her kindness, selflessness, and thoughtfulness. Her friends and family remember her as someone who was effortlessly hilarious, creative, humble, strong, and dedicated. She had a brilliant mind and a beautiful spirit that left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege to know her.

The funeral service for Rachel will be held on May 16, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Cathedral of Saint Paul, Saint Paul, MN. Visitation prior to service, at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow, Resurrection Cemetery, Mendota Heights, MN, at 1:30 PM.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that those wishing to honor Rachel's memory consider making a donation to the GoFundMe established in her name to support a memorial in her memory: [https://gofund.me/16e8bee6]

We would also like to extend special thanks to the parties that took care of Rachel after her passing: the Coroner's Office of West London, the US Embassy in London, Leverton & Sons Funeral Services in London, and Golders Green Crematorium in London. Your support during this difficult time has been invaluable to us.

Rachel Green's light will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Though she has left this world, her spirit lives on in the countless memories she created and the love she shared. Rest in peace, dear Rachel. You will be forever missed.
