Rafael Ferrer Obituary

Rafael José Ferrer was born on September 24, 1917, in Guantanamo, Cuba and is preceded in death by his parents, Rosendo Ferrer and Eulalia Santo Domingo; four sisters, Concepcion, Joséfina, Rosalina and Dulce Maria, and his granddaughter, Amy. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Carmen Cecilia Miralles de Ferrer; his seven children: Rafael Vicente (Carmen), Rosendo Jorge (Rita), Maria del Carmen, Magaly de la Caridad, Carlos Manuel, Javier Anselmo and Maria del Rosario; 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He loved his family, church, friends and baseball. Rafael attended school at La Salle in Guantanamo, Cuba where he graduated from the University of Havana and became a Certified Public Account. After the revolution, he sent the two oldest boys in 1961 and the two oldest girls in 1962 to Miami. The family was reunited in November of 1965 in Dallas, Texas. He has been a resident of Carrollton and a member of the Mary Immaculate Catholic Church community since 1972.

I will miss Felo's pleasant presence at all the important family gatherings. I've known him for 40 years and I certainly will feel the void when he is not there in that chair, watching his family gather.
