RALPH "GARRY" ALDRIDGE
Ralph 'Garry' Aldridge passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016 at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon (ICU Unit), with his wife and family by his side. Garry was born in Moose Jaw, SK on March 3, 1951. The eldest of five children, he grew up on the family farm and attended elementary and high school in Moose Jaw. He began his career in news media in 1969, which included roles as CBC National Reporter for Saskatchewan and Parliament Hill Reporter for CBC Radio News. In 1981, Garry left the news media and went to work for Allan Blakeney, as Speech Writer and Director of Communications. He then served as Chief of Staff for Roy Romanow, both in opposition and in government. Since July 1996, Garry was President of his own firm, Points West Consulting. Garry met and married his high school sweetheart, Carol Herrod. They would have been married 46 years, this March 14, 2016. Together, Garry and Carol have five children, Gary (Diane), Patti (Eric), Bob (Jan), Jeremy (Tanya) and Nicole. They have eight grandchildren, Desha, Chloe, Alyssa, Kyle, Rilyn, Taelyn, Brody and Brooklyn. Garry was a big part of his children and grandchildren's lives. He adored them and was their biggest fan. Along with his wife, children and grandchildren, he is survived by his brother Gerard (Margaret); his two sisters Nancy (Guy), Carol (Rick) and their families. Garry was predeceased by his parents Carman and Gertrude and his brother Ron. A Celebration of Garry's Life and Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Rosary Cathedral, 1325 13th Avenue, Regina, SK, on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. The family wishes to thank Garry's ICU nurse, Tamara and attending physician, Dr. Masri for their care and compassion. Dear Carole and family,
I often think back on the time you lived in Ottawa and how lucky I was to have "grown up" in your house. That was many years ago, Jeremy and Nicole were just babies then. Patti and I are still great friends after all these years. Mr. Aldridge was a good guy, who used to play with us kids and make us feel at home. I am so sorry for your loss! May you find comfort in the love of your family and friends.
Sending much love, Luise Karner-Ottawa,On

Garry was a close friend, my boss in the early 90s, and a great social democrat.

He worked tirelessly to make Saskatchewan better for all of us. Many nights, I would find him still hard at it in the office at 11 in the evening, with the Premier and Deputy Premier, figuring out how to dig out from the mountain of debt Saskatchewan was labouring under.

Deepest sympathy to the Aldridge family. Rest in peace, boss.

To the family and friend of Garry Aldridge.

My wife, Linda, joins me in offering our deepest sympathy on Garry's recent sad passing.

I can only agree that Garry's death is a loss to the people of Saskatchewan.

Garry provided me with an excellent opportunity and always treated me fairly when I worked for him at Executive Council in the early 1990's.

Garry has left a lasting legacy of hard work, dedication to a cause and respect for all whose lives he touched.
