Ralph Dwire Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 21, 2025.
Ralph A. Dwire, 96, passed peacefully on January 17, 2025, at his home in Lyndeborough, NH. He was born on February 29, 1928 in Merrimack, NH, the son of Doris (Decato) Dwire and Earl Dwire. He was the loving and devoted husband of Helen (Corey) Dwire. They were married on June 16, 1951 in Brookeline, NH.

Ralph was a US Air Force Korean War veteran where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Education from Keene State Teacher's College. His career as an Industrial Arts Educator spanned over forty years. He taught in the local high schools of Appleton Academy, Mascenic, Wilton/Lyndeborough, and Merrimack.

Ralph and Helen moved to Lyndeborough in 1955. Together they began the process of building their home on Forest Rd while raising two sons, Keith and Owen. In addition to building his own home, Ralph and his two sons assisted several other local residents in building their homes. Ralph was dedicated to his community and served on the school board and as town selectman.

In addition to woodworking, Ralph loved gardening, raising turkeys, and especially making maple syrup. Friends and family would often gather at his sugar house to enjoy camaraderie and friendship while nature's bounty was rendered into that sweet elixir. In his later years, he greatly enjoyed frequent visits from former students, friends and family.

Ralph is survived by his wife, Helen; his youngest son, Owen and his wife, Carol (Whitney) Dwire; grandson Christopher Dwire; granddaughter Abigail (Dwire) Weitzel and husband Spencer Weitzel.

A celebration of life and remembrance service will be held at the Lyndeborough Citizens Hall at 2 pm on January 24th with Pastor Paul Lemire officiating. A reception following the service will be held at the Citizens Hall. Family and friends are invited to attend.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish, may make memorial contributions to the Lyndeborough Volunteer Fire Department, Highway Department or Library. The Cremation Society of New Hampshire has been entrusted with arrangements. To view an online tribute, leave a message of condolence or for more information please visit www.csnh.com.
