Ralph Eugene Nacci

R. Eugene Nacci passed away on October 18, 2023, at the Carolina Inn at Village Green located in Fayetteville, NC. He was the husband of Nuccia Maria Galleazzo Nacci of Fayetteville. Mr. Nacci was born in Johnston, Rhode Island on May 15th, 1923, the son of Eugenio and Rose Nacci. He earned his BS and MBA degrees from The University of Rhode Island. He served as Business Manager for Rhode Island College in Providence, as Chief Business Officer at Indiana University Northwest in Gary, Indiana and as Vice President of Finance and Management at State University of New York, College at Cortland in Courtland, New York. Prior to his 30 years in higher education, Mr. Nacci was a project Engineer at Corning Glass Works in Central Falls, Rhode Island and at Texas Instruments, Inc. in Attleboro, Massachusetts. He also served for several years on the Boards of Trustees at The Cortland Memorial Hospital and The Cortland Chamber of Commerce.

Mr. Nacci is survived by his wife, Nuccia Maria Galleazzo Nacci, daughters Carole Ann Ferrara of Milwaukee, WI, Roberta Gene Carey of County Kilkenny, Ireland, Elayna Maria Ziemer of Manhattan, NY and four grandchildren, Michael, Anna, Isabella and Chiara. Mr. Nacci also has a sister Roberta McGinn and her family surviving him in RI as well as several nieces and nephews. He loved his wife Nuccia's daughter Sandra, son Robert and grandchildren Jennifer, John, Megan and Josh as well as the entire Galleazzo family in Italy. He especially enjoyed Nuccia's sister, Maddalena's pasta lunches, and always considered them a special treat.

Mr. Nacci enjoyed his friends and relatives and was known for his upbeat personality and always pleasant demeanor. He loved the ocean and God's presence in Nature. He was an avid follower of sports and politics. He enjoyed playing golf with good friends and developed a small but appreciative following with his singing as The Cortland Crooner.

Mr. Nacci's family would like to thank Kelly, Jennifer, Dory and staff members at Bayada Hospice and Jessica, John and staff members at the Carolina Inn, where he received excellent care during his last few months. His family felt honored and blessed to be able to celebrate his 100th birthday.

Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Monday, October 30, 2023, at St. Patrick's Church, followed by his final resting place at the Columbarium with Father John Durbin officiating.
