Ralph Arthur Warren, 66, of Overland Park, Kansas, passed away on March 14 2013 peacefully in his sleep at the Hospice House in Kansas City. The visitation and funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on March 19, 2013 at Mt. Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home. Burial to follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery. Ralph was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 1, 1944. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinois University. Introduced by Sam and June Snider, Ralph married Carolyn J "Mimi" Warren (Cline) on March 23, 1974 at the United Church of Christ; they were married 39 years. Ralph worked as an electrical engineer for Honeywell NSSA Department of Energy for 43 years and retired on December 21, 2012. He enjoyed competition sail boating with his Hobie catamarans with Carolyn on Lake Jacomo, model railroading and care taking for his family property in Wisconsin. Ralph was an avid reader of novels and a video/audiophile with an extensive music and movie library. He began his interest in photography after trips to Hawaii and the Bahamas with Carolyn. He especially enjoyed going to movies with his family. Ralph also loved going for walks and roughhousing with his dogs. He was beloved by friends, family and neighbors for his dedication, helpfulness and sense of humor. He had battled advanced stage prostate cancer for 4 years. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents, Carlyle F. Warren and Dorothea Ann Warren. He is survived by his wife, Carolyn; two children, Samantha Balin (Warren) and her husband Ian, Nicholas Warren and his significant other Rachel Thurman; his granddaughter Teagan Balin; brother, Phillip A. Warren; sister Cynthia A. Warren; and the rest of his friends. Flowers may be sent to Mount Moriah & Freeman Funeral Home at 10507 Holmes Road, Kansas City Missouri, 64131, or donations made to Wayside Waifs Animal Shelter, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, Missouri 64137 or Kansas City Hospice House, 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, Missouri, 64114. The family of Ralph Warren wishes to thank the Kansas City Hospice House as well as their family and friends for their support and love.
