Ralph Eugene Wentworth Ralph was born on April 9,1915, in Bangor, Maine, and died on September 10, 2011, in San Francisco. He was predeceased by his parents, Eugene and Margaret, and by his sisters, Marjorie and Ruth. He spent his early years in the Northeast where he attended Bangor High School, graduated from the University of Maine, and received a fellowship to Harvard University. During WWII he served in the South Pacific with the Army Air Corps. After his honorable discharge he relocated his family to California and worked for the US Postal Service. At the time of his retirement he was the manager of customer service with the San Leandro post office. Ralph was a person of great integrity and generosity. He devoted much of his life caring for his family and was always a true friend to many. He loved books, classical music, travel, and cats and dogs. Heartfelt gratitude is extended to Teresa Wong and her staff at the Avenue assisted living facility for their compassionate care. At his request, there will be no memorial service. He will be interred in the family plot at the Mount Hope cemetery in Bangor.

I grew up with Ralph Wentworth as a neighbor and remember him with great affection. In particular, I remember the great care he took of his mother after she suffered a disabling stroke.

My sincere condolences to any remaining family members and friends.
