Ramon Villarreal Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 31, 2025.
Ramon Ove Villarreal Jr., lovingly known as "Jorn," passed away peacefully in his home in Oak Forest, Illinois, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025. He was 64 years old.

Born on November 14th, 1960 in Geneva, Illinois, Ramon was the youngest of four children. He graduated from West Aurora High School and lived a life full of passion and adventure. An award-winning racquetball enthusiast, Ramon excelled in the sport he loved. He was also a dedicated comic book collector, with a special fondness for the Incredible Hulk, finding joy in the stories and art that shaped his imagination.

Ramon's interests extended to playing video games, watching anime, and attending live professional wrestling events with his son. These shared experiences brought him immense happiness and connection. Affectionately nicknamed "Dodo" and "Little Buckaroo" by his siblings, he had a playful and adventurous nature. Ramon loved to travel, hunt for crawdads, and marvel at the wonders of wildlife.

A devoted Christian, Ramon found great joy in studying theology at Chicago's Moody Bible Institute and deepening his understanding of his faith. His love for God shaped his life and the way he treated others, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.

Ramon met the love of his life, Laura Harper, while working at Electronic Data Systems, and they built a loving and devoted marriage together. He was the son of Ramon Ove Villarreal Sr. and Magdalena Ramos. Ramon leaves behind his son David (Deborah) Mullen. His sisters Juanita (Nelson) Velazquez and Dianna (Luis) Balli, as well as his nieces Sonya (Adam) Gomez, Sarina (Josh) Perry, and Sylvia (Jesse) Stambach, and his nephews Daniel (Debra Woods) Velazquez and Michael (Tina) Velazquez. Grandchildren, Nicole Aimone, and Jaymie Mullen. He was preceded in death by his sister "Baby Girl" Villarreal.

Ramon's life was defined by his kindness, curiosity, and charity. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Arrangements for Ramon's Life Tribute are Sunday, Feb 16th at 2pm at Solutions Church located at 4818 Southwick Drive, Matteson, IL 60443.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ramon's favorite charities, Compassion International and/or South Suburban Humane Society, in his memory.

I worked with Ramon always remotely since I am from Mexico. He was the one always helped me or telling me who should I contact.
I had a chance to travel to Schaumburg and rented a car to meet some of my Hollister co-workers in person. I was fortunate to meet him in person and found he's a wonderful person.
He became my Servicedesk buddy always willing to help me.

Last time I talked with him he was at the hospital. I am very sad he passed away. I will deeply miss him. Sorry about the late condolences to his family

Ah yes. I recall Jorn when he and his family would come to our house in Aurora, Illinois on many a Saturday evening . His parents and our parents , the Herrera´s would play cards while his siblings and my siblings would all play together and reenact our favourite episodes from various TV shows and or watch Creature Features. I believe Lost in Space was one of Jorn´s favourite shows as well as mine Those were the 60´s and 70´s.
One time Jorn at our house bit into what he thought was a pickle and it turned out to be a hot pepper . I´ve never heard a kid scream bloody murder like that in my life and we all laughed hysterically. That wasn´t very nice on our part and poor Jorn was practically in tears. Later on in years he did find humour in that incident and we´d still give him " the business. " Ah those foolish early years with Jorn and the Villareal´s . I will always remember them and cherish them . Rest well dear Jorn and may your memory always be for a blessing .

10 years ago I met Ramon on my first day at Hollister where I sat with him in the Servicedesk. After a few years moving around I recently ended up sitting right next to him again as my cube neighbour.

Ramon always had something funny to say, I remember when I had to work late and it was just the two of us he joked that I was interrupting his quiet time. But also, seeing that I was struggling, asked if there was anything he could do to help. I always appreciated that.

My thoughts go out to Ramons family and close friends. He was an incredible guy and left us too soon.

Ramon, Ramon, who am I going to call now when I need help with IT stuff at work? Ramon was my IT buddy for the past 20 years at Hollister, he was always kind, funny and very helpful, there wasn't one single time he didn't make himself available to help with whatever the issue was. My deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.

Though I never had the opportunity to meet Ramon in person, our interactions over email, MS Teams, and occasional phone calls left a lasting impression on me. Even from afar, his kindness, professionalism, and willingness to always lend a helping hand were clear in every exchange. Whenever I reached out for support, whether it was to solve a problem or simply to get guidance, Ramon was always there with a positive attitude and genuine eagerness to assist. His contributions to Hollster Australia and to everyone he worked with will not be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Ramon. You will be missed.

I met Ramon when I first came to Hollister about 20 years ago. He took time out his busy schedule to teach me the ins and outs of Hollister life. Over the years we became more than work associates we became good friends. There was nothing I could not talk to Ramon about. Some of the best times we had together were during the company golf outings. They were full of laughs and a lot of bad shots. I will miss my friend deeply. My condolences to his family.
