Ramona Jane, daughter of Raymond F. and Mary Mae (Dean) Loos, was born August 28, 1929 near Martinsburg, Iowa. Her family farmed in Wapello County for many years prior to a farm purchase, moving the family to Humboldt County.
She graduated from Ottosen High School and went on to St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota to study music. After one year, her college plans changed. Ramona married Richard Martin Kinseth on November 27, 1949 at First Lutheran Church in Gilmore City. Richard passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2015.
The couple lived in Ottosen the majority of their married lives. Ramona taught piano lessons for many years, was self-employed through Stanley Home Products and served as organist and choir director at Trinity Lutheran Church for over 50 years.
Survivors include her children: Craig (Vicki) Kinseth of Overland Park, KS; Gary (Kay) Kinseth of Algona; Marsha (Mike) Riordan of Oskaloosa; Byron Kinseth of Flagler, CO; Karen (Brett) Irving of Pittsfield, IL; and Richard (Kathleen) Kinseth of Des Moines; nine grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; one brother, Richard Loos of Davenport. Ramona was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband, two brothers, Raymond Dean and Robert.
Ramona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Lutheran Church Women, Rural Mail Carriers Auxiliary; holding leadership roles in each organization. She belonged to the Ottosen Card Club for over 50 years. She loved visiting those who couldn’t get out and ‘never knew a stranger.’

My deepest sympathy to Ramona's family. Through our Stanley business I got to know Ramona quite well. We attended many conventions and meetings together and believe me your mom was a hoot! She always livened the group up. Lots of great memories of her. Sorry to not be able to come to funeral but staying away because of Covid-19. MY prayers are for her and her family and I know she is with Richard again. Virtual hugs.

I will spend the weekend with my happy memories - scrambling on the boulder in the yard with cousins, balancing on the fence between the house and the field, playing some form of baseball with aunts, uncles and cousins in the yard...and then going in for the best of hugs from Grandma. I wish I could be in the church again on Saturday morning, but I'll be there in spirit and will hear her voice (and organ) in my memories. Go with God, Grandma, and big hugs to all. xoxo

I remember one summer Sunday at church in Ottosen we were singing the last hymn of that day with the windows all open. Ramona was playing the organ and I believe we were singing "Onward Christian Soldiers" and we were just about finished with the last verse and Ramona, during midplay, cried out over us all and said, "Let's sing this verse one more time!" That has stuck by me ever since that day. What a wonderful woman she was! She was always so nice to my mom and dad, Carroll and Wilma Olson and we 3 girls, Debbie, Diane and myself Denise. May God be with you all and keep you in his grace and blessings.

I grew up in the Ottosen community and the entire Kinseth family were wonderful citizens. Ramona s brother, Jerry, was in my graduating class. Ramona was always contributing her time and energy to various school and community events. Richard was always by her side helping others. Our small town benefited greatly from their dedicated service. Condolences to the family and many friends.

I grew up on a farm near Ottosen. I babysat at the Richard and Ramona home several times. I've jokingly said, Ramona had a life sentence in her job of organist and choir director; she was in that job when I was in high school up until a handful of years ago. Both she and Richard were tireless workers at church--Ramona would be up front with the organ and Richard would be a welcoming face at the front door. And the Kinseths were vital citizens of Ottosen.
I laughed when my parents showed me the Humboldt paper photograph when their garage was used as a polling place!
And the beautiful way the cemetary was maintained when Richard and Ramona did the work.
The group that played cards together for so long must have been a blessed group for all shared times.
Praying for comfort to her children and that her memory will be blessed.
