Ramona Marguerite Koval passed away peacefully on November 1st, 2017 at the age of 82 at the Wm George Extended Care in Sioux Lookout, Ontario surrounded by her family. She was born in Fort Chipewyan, Alberta moving to Sioux Lookout in her younger years then onto Pickle Lake where she resided until moving to Sioux Lookout in 2016. Her life's passion was in her kitchen cooking and preparing the best of food for family and anyone that came through the door. Her cooking career began at the Pickle Lake Forestry cookery and later leading to operating, managing and owning the Winston Motor Hotel. It wasn't beyond her to cater or host any gathering not to mention the many kitchen parties, the more the merrier was her motto. The motorhome was the cabin on wheels for her & Billy from coast to coast and from Koval Springs to the Mexican border. Mother was happiest spending time making cabbage rolls & perogies for family & friends, specializing in holiday celebrations. Always dedicated to her family, she will be dearly missed by her children Gwenda (Ivan) Wilson, Patricia (Jimmy) Hickey, Norma, Douglas (Sally Rose) and Winston (Tina) Koval, 11 grandchildren, 7 greatgrandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, her sisters Margery, Reta, Patricia and Louise, her sister-in-law's Caroline, Bunny and Rose. She was predeceased by her husband Billy, parents David and Winnifred Hooker, her sister Barbara and brother Jack. Many thanks to all the visitors during our mothers short stay at Wm George Extended Care. Sincere thanks to Dr. O'Driscoll, the Extended Care and Sioux Towers supportive staff for their help in our time of need. A Memorial service will be at St. Mary's Anglican Church in Sioux Lookout on Monday, November 6th, 2017 at 11am with Muriel Anderson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date at the Pineridge Cemetery in Pickle
Lake. Donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Meno Ya Win
Health Centre Foundation through Sioux Lookout Funeral Home, Box 1449, Sioux Lookout, ON P8T 1B9.

So sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. I have enjoyed the pictures you have posted of her. Auntie Mona loved her life in Pickle Lake and her family so much. She was so proud of all of you. Take comfort knowing she is free from suffering and will be dancing in the sky.

Sorry for your loss. I have good memories of Mona's hospitality during my years in Pickle Lake and know she meant a lot to my wife Linda, who grew up in Pickle Lake and shared a lot of time with your family.

I am so very sorry to learn of Mona's passing. She was a wonderful, dear friend who I loved spending time with especially in our younger years. We had a lot of fun and so many laughs.
Your Mom loved all of you kids so very much, you all were the joy of her life.
Mona was a unique woman who could find humour in almost every thing and someone that I respected and admired a lot. She will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

Howard and I always appreciated the help that Ramona gave us in Pickle Lake. She was a warm and friendly "landlord" and helped us establish our business there. She remained a true and loyal friend and we are saddened by her passing.
Condolences to her family here in Sioux Lookout and all over northern Ontario.
