LAKE WALES - Donald C. McGilliard, former Vice President and General Manager of TRW Inc., passed on his 92nd birthday on September 30, 2015.
Donald was born in Cincinnati, OH in 1923. He excelled in his studies and graduated with honors with an Engineering degree from University of Cincinnati in 1945. In the summer of 1948, he met his future beloved wife, Nancy while she was on summer break from Mt. Ida College, MA. They were married a year later on November 12, 1949.
He applied his engineering prowess in development, holding several assigned patents in his name. The focus of his professional vocation was in manufacturing management. He retired in 1981, and moved from Chicago, IL to Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Raie McGilliard and his sister, Jean Herman (nee McGilliard). He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son, Douglas and wife Simona of Foligno, Italy; daughter, Gail Magoon and husband Ed of Loveland, OH; and grandchildren, Derrick, Daphne, Geoffrey, and Kathryn.
A memorial service will be held Monday October 5, 2015, at 2pm at Water's Edge Retirement Community, 10 Grove Ave. West, Lake Wales, FL 33853. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Susan G Komen breast cancer support.
