Randall Wayne Gilmer, 62, of Knoxville, TN, passed away suddenly on Thursday, December 29, 2016. Randy was raised in Bristol, VA with brothers Darryl (Teresa), Rick, and sister Ronda, who still reside there. Randy moved to Knoxville after graduating from John S. Battle high school and began his lifelong career in engineering.
He joins his son Brian whom preceded him in death. He leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Lois A. Gilmer; daughter and son-in-law, Melanie and Tanner Hardin and their children, Gavin and Gwendolyn; his late son's widow, Leigh Gilmer and children, Evan, Morgan and Madison; and his lap friend, family dog Ridley.
Family and friends will gather at the Gilmer residence for a brunch to celebrate his life on Saturday, January 14, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909.
