Jacquetta,
My deepest sympathy is extended to you and to your family. After days ended at Maggie L. Walker, our paths crossed again in Maryland when we were neighbors while Randy attended law school at Howard Univ. You cared for my son while I worked, and I often found him being entertained by Randy when I came to pick him up. Many years passed before our paths crossed briefly again when I was in Richmond, but I have often remembered fondly those days as neighbors. May you find peace and comfort in the love of friends and family that surround you, and in the love of God who sustains you.

I served on a jury with Judge Johnson presiding. The case was a medical malpractice involving the death of a high school boy. The entire jury was impressed by Judge Johnson's even handedness, fairness, willingness to listen, and even good humor in a difficult case. The jury hung and the Judge was very understanding. The one thing that the jury was unanimous on was that Judge Johnson was the best Judge any of us every worked with and that if any of us were ever to go before a judge, as either defendant or plaintiff, we would like to have Judge Johnson presiding.

Dear Mrs. Johnson and family, I was shocked and saddened to learn of Judge Johnson's untimely death. I have always had such admiration for him - his demeanor, his intellect and his courtesy for all who appeared before him. He has been a great role model not only for the bench and bar, but for all those who appeared before him. He will be sorely missed. Sincerely,

The last time I saw you and Randy, he was pushing one of the twins in the swinger at the playground. We were neighbors on Hawthorne and classmates at MLW. When learned of his death, I was first "shocked" then deeply saddened. If I had not read and saw his obituary for myself, I would not have believed it. However, it has to be comforting to know he was so well loved and respected, and will be sorely missed. May God give you strength and peace in the days ahead.

Jacquetta,
What a shock it was to see Randy's face in the obituary announcement. Just the weekend before last I was in Richmond for our high school reunion, asking for you. We missed you, did not know what you were about to go through.
Raymond told some humorous stories about the Judge, but I did not know him as such. I knew Randy going all the way back to Sunday school class at All Souls Presbyterian Church; I recall that he showed the seeds of being a good lawyer then through his debates with our Sunday school teacher. I am proud to read the tributes to the man he became.
I pray for spiritual comfort for you and your family during this difficult time.

To the Johnson Family,
It is very sad to learn of our fellow M.L.Walker High School class of 1964’s departure from this earth. Having known Randall since our days in our high school cadet corp right through our last class reunion in 2004, he was totally a class act. Some of my fondest memories will always be of the fun we shared over the years. Whenever I hear anyone sing “Here comes the judge” (this is how we greeted Randall at class reunions), I will smile warmly and think of my friend Randall.
