Funny how life works...I just found a picture from long ago, that brought back memories of fun summers that I spent in Virginia with my family. Your smiling face always brought a smile to everyone you touched! I think of you and your family often. It is so hard to let go. I have lost so many special people in my life in the last 10 years, and those phone calls always feel like you have had the breath knocked out of you. We will all be together one day. Until that day....

Randall,
I miss you! I am getting ready to go on vacation. I need this so bad and I have been feeling so much better. I am not leaving you behind and you always have a special place I can always go to find you. But I need not to grieve so hard and let you enjoy Heaven. Sometimes I feel as though I might be keeping you from happiness you so deserve. I want to take a step forward for my health and my heart. I want to heal from your loss. Show me a sign that it's ok to just be Happy again. I will always love you and miss our talks. I've got so much to say to you someday. Goodnite and Jesus hold him tight till I get there. Love, Carolyn

Randall, was my boss at Dana for a short time but it was like I had and instant friend. I couldn't believe a boss could be so understanding and helpful. He was there for any one who needed him. I last saw him July 2006 at a get together at the lake. We danced and sang the night away. He was so loved by all his friends and will surely be missed.

Randall,

This weekend has been real hard for me. I don't know why. I guess I find ways to always keep you close in thought. So many things I need to share with you. Jordan getting married. Gosh where has time gone. We all wanted you to be there and there was something missing but I know in my heart you were there. You loved Jordan too much. He looked so much like you and I was SO proud. I wish I had a direct line to Heaven so I could tell you everything. I pray to God every night so I can see you again some day.

Keeping you always close,
Love your Sis

Randall,

I was just sitting here missing you. Sunday was Mother's Day and it hurts so bad to see the sadness on Mommy's face. She was just so sad all day. I cried all the way home. We have a big empty seat at the table and your special presence you always brought with you is missing. Sometimes when we all sit down to eat we just look at each other like we dont know what to do. I cry for you every day and I keep you in my special place close to my heart. I love and miss you forever.

Love your sis,

Carolyn

Dear Carolyn,
I know Randall loved you more than life itself, he spoke of you so often, always with a smile and so much pride, and it was written all over his face how much you meant to him! He would want nothing more than for you to be able to allow your heart to heal. I know he would want to take away all your pain and leave only the good memories of all the wonderful times the 2 of you shared together with your family. He was always so caring about everyone else, always putting someone elses' needs before his own, that's just who he was. God made him so special, and he was one of a kind. I know he will live forever in your heart, as he will in mine, and anyone who knew him could not ever forget how special he was. I pray that God will now help your heart to heal, I know that is what Randall would want. He is watching over you and he will always love you. With God's help, may you find the peace and comfort you need to carry on. Love & prayers,

I love you so much little brother and I miss you so. Life here is just not the same. I thought keeping this diary would somehow keep me in touch with you. Sometimes I feel like I am talking to you and I want to tell you everything and all that you have missed. Not having you in my life is the worse thing that has ever happened to me. I ask God daily to help me to go on because I know you and that is what you would want me to do. I'm trying so hard. I love you!!!!!

Carolyn, Uncle Earl, Aunt Helen, Danny, Linda & Jeff

Just wanted to say Thank you all for opening up your hearts to Keith and myself when your hearts were empty and full of pain. I have re-read alot of the entries here in this very huge memory book to Randall. It goes to show that he had touched so many and family does not always come from being born within, but that friendships acquired are a testimony of what we become. I have thought of Randall several times throughout the past couple of years and remember that big ole beautiful smile and the sneaky little boy that jumped from behind the man's eyes, and a Heart as Big as Texas. I for one will always see him that way as I am sure that several hundred others will too. Again, we love you all.

Randall, Just to let you know you are in my thoughts daily and never forgotten. Saw Iona Saturday at a reunion and we were reminissing on what a wonderful, caring person you always were, always putting everyone else before yourself. Iona mentioned the many times she and Ola used to pick you up as a child, along with your brothers & sisters, and take you places, and how much they enjoyed it as they had no children of their own. You brought so much joy to everyone who knew you, and to know you was to love you. Thank you for touching my life, I feel so blessed to have known you. To Uncle Earl, Aunt Helen, Danny, Jeff, Linda and Carolyn....Please know that you stay in our hearts and our thoughts. To Carolyn, I changed jobs and now I work right out from where Randall is resting. The markers are beautiful, I occasionally walk over and visit both he and Wanda, and ask God to keep watching over all of you and provide you strength to continue down your journey. I am truly blessed to have grown up with you all and to now be a family member means so very much. Take care and come see me.
I love you and I have worried about you and your mom and dad.
Take care.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Sweet Randall, it still just does not seem possible that you are gone, I can close my eyes and see your bright shining smile and hear your happy laugh. All the years we worked together on second shift, you were never just a boss as so many bosses are, but a dear friend, the best anyone could ask for, always there to offer an encouraging smile and a helping hand. You always made your rounds several times a shift to check on us, and I can still hear you say "Are you ok?", "Do you need anything?", not just saying it, but really meaning it. I remember asking you "Randall, do I owe you any money?", and you'd say "No, why?", and I'd say "Good, could I borrow a dollar?". You would laugh and reach for your billfold, then ask if I needed more.
There will never be another Randall, and anyone who ever knew you, knows what a special person you were. Your birthday just recently passed, and while it was a sad day because you were not here, it's a day that will never be forgotten. To all who knew and loved you, there will always be a big empty hole in our hearts that no one else could possibly fill. Time will never erase our precious memories, but I pray that it will help ease the pain we feel, especially for your dear parents and family who meant so much to you. God bless each of you.
We love you Randall, and we will never forget you.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

I don't ever recall seeing Randall when he did not have a smile on his face. What made Randall happy, was seeing his friends and family happy. He loved cook-outs, ballgames and racing. He loved going to his parent's and having coffee with them on Saturday morings. One of his greatest loves is his brother, Jeffrey. It was the little things that made Randall smile. Randall touched my heart like he did so many others. We will all miss him.

Dearest O'Quinn Family and Friends,
If I had every worldly word at my command, I would still find myself without the ability to express what kind of an impact Randall made upon us all. Randall carried a warm, friendly, caring, and compassionate way about him that could only make him a one in a million person. Randall loved his family, friends, and life itself. Randall was a true humanitarion!
All whom have shared a part of his life on this earth, will never forget him, but, charish the moments that we've been fortunate enough to have had while he was with us.
I know that we have all learned something very valuable by Randall's presence while he was with us. May God bless everyone in this time of sorrow and make us stronger with each day as we will all need his strength within us to endure such a tragic and untimely loss.

As evidenced by many of the entries in the guest book, Randall was a person who was loved and respected by many. I worked with him several years ago in the mining industry. He was a pleasure to be around then and obviously a joy for his recent coworkers. If there is legacy that any of us would want to leave, it is that we have brightened someone elses life. I have known and worked with Randall for more than 16 years. You simply could not find a gentler, kinder person. He never ever failed to smile and say hello to everyone he passed. To the O'Quinn Family,

I worked with Randall at Dana in 2000 and 2001 and he was always such a joy to be around. By the time he came in for 2nd shift, I was usually tired and cranky (HR did that to me sometimes), but he could always make me smile. He was full of positive humor and encouragement for all those around him. Although I hadn't talked to him in years, he is very fondly remembered.

May God wrap his loving arms around you in this time of sorrow. Your family will continue to be in my thoughts and prayers.

MR. & MRS. O'Quinn and Family,
WE are very sorry about the loss of your son Randall. We will miss him very much. I only knew Randall for 5 short years. Randall was the first person I met when my wife Carol and I bought our house. Randall always had a smile on his face and a warm hello for us when ever we were outside and he would see us. Randall and I would spend a lot of time talking about our gardens and other things. I am a much better person for having known Randall.
It is hard to go out back and look over at Randall's and know that our friend is gone, but I know that I will see him again one day.
If there is ever anything any of you need please feel free to ask us.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to you every day.

Our Lord and Saviour got HIS Christmas Gift early when Randall went home.

To the O'Quinn Family,
I worked for Randall from 1996-2001 and you could never have asked for a better boss or friend. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone. Everyone who ever knew him is suffering a great loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to all of his family and friends.

To The Family of Randall O'Quinn,
Randall will be greatly missed by many. While working with him at Dana, he could always make your day when you would look up and seen him walking down the isle, shaking his head and having a big smile on his face, filled with laughter behind it. He was truly a great guy with a huge heart.
May God comfort each of you with your loss, trust in Him and He will give you guidance. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear Family of Randall,

I am very sorry for your loss. I worked with Randall, and during that time he too became someone very special to me. I have thought of him several times since I left, wondering if he ever found someone of his own. He and Duane (Owens) seemed to be joined at the hip, they loved each other like brothers and I'm sure Duane is having a hard time right now. Randall didn't seem to let things bother him very much, he would take something that was irritating and find humor in it somehow. I remember a time, he told me, he and Duane went on a trip. It was Randall's turn to drive and Duane made the mistake of falling asleep. Randall came to a place on the interstate he needed to make a decision which way to go; he didn't want to bother Duane so he chose. He continued to drive for a while until Duane woke up to see a "welcome to" sign that was in the opposite direction of where they were suppose to be heading. Randall had taken them and hour or so in another direction. Randall just "giggled" his sweet way when he told that story. Randall was a very loving and kind hearted person. Anyone who had the opportunity to be given his affection was blessed. He was always thinking of his family. He was quiet about personal matters, but what he shared, you could tell he loved his parents, his sisters and brothers. He spoke of Jeff a lot when I knew him; he was just a teen and he knew his parents weren't as young as they use to be, so he would try to do for each of them. I have prayed for each of you since I heard and I hope one day to see him in heaven.
