Randy BROWN Obituary
1961 - 2015
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Randy Brown. He passed away at the Montreal General Hospital on Wednesday, September 23, 2015, finally succumbing to the complications of cancer. Randy loved carpentry and worked as a general contractor for over 30 years until he was forced to stop this year due to his illness. He previously worked over 20 years in the Montreal Stock Exchange. He was additionally involved in both Lakeshore soccer and Scouts. Randy had a passion for running and would be out with his headlight in the 'wee' hours of the morning. He was known to locals and the MUHC family as 'superman'. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 28 years and best friend Alison Smiley and his children Brendan, Erin and Nolan, his mother, Eleanor and brother, Mark. He was predeceased by his father Robert. The funeral will take place on Thursday, October 1, 2015 at St. Columba by-the-Lake church in Pointe Claire at 2 p.m. A special thank you to the caring staff at the Montreal General Hospital and those affiliated with the MUHC and Cedars Cancer. Their loving care and support has helped our family through these difficult years. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your choice of the Brown Family Fund and/or the Randy Brown Memorial Fund at Cedars Cancer Foundation at the MUHC. It is with great sadness to hear of Randy's passing. I have beautiful memories of Randy and Mark during our teen years with his parents and the dog! I was so happy to hear of your marriage many years ago. I know he will be missed and I hope you can smile when you think of these fun, exciting and beautiful memories. Dear Alison and family. May your memories of this special man bring you comfort at this difficult time in your lives. Being his cousin, I was delighted with the gifts that he made with his own hands that were given to me so many years ago. I always admired his workmanship and patience that were evident in the finished products. Nicest contractor ever, super honest, integrity, obviously a man with lots of values, and family oriented guy, he told me he wanted to fix up the house to his wife's taste, so she would be happy.....

My thoughts go back to annual the summers 'get-to togethers', late '70s and early '80s Randy would organize to bring the Baie d'Urfe gang together. Randy had the biggest, most generous heart: parties, dancing, movies, . Raiders of the Lost Arc'! He loved people and making them happy. The fondest memories of a very dear man with a lot of courage. Words cannot express...... Randy and I were able to lend a shoulder to one another. Fighting cancer isn't easy but in fact it is sometimes enlightening, a blessing and yes even funny. Our hugs when we would see each other were as my husband called them "legendary" whether it be in the middle of Wal-Mart, Home Depot etc.. didn't matter. Randy exuded warmth, strength and love. A mentor to my husband and other roofers, a friend to so, so many, an amazing father and to me.... A HERO. You're gone from the physical but will live in my heart forever Randy.
