TYLER -- Memorial services for Randy Hugh Fouts, 61, of Tyler, are scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Lloyd James Funeral Chapel in Tyler, with the Reverend Father Rusty Matheny officiating, under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home. Family and friends will gather at Robin Hood Studios immediately following the services. Randy Hugh Fouts was born November 4, 1944, in Gilmer, Texas. After graduating from Hawkins High School, he attended Tyler Jr. College and then graduated from The University Of Texas in Austin with degrees in math and English. After graduation, Randy worked in the music business at Robin Hood Studios and was a partner in Brians & Fouts Music, a company that composed and produced music for commercials for national and regional clients, including Frito-Lay, Pepsi, Sea-Doo, Chili's, The Black-Eyed Pea, and Six Flags. In 1980, he received the prestigious CLIO award, the highest honor one can achieve in advertising, for a Greyhound commercial. He began playing piano on recording sessions when he was still in high school. Randy soon gained a reputation as an extraordinary musician, playing piano and keyboards on countless recording sessions over a period of more than three decades, for artists that included Roger Miller, Carol Channing, Charley Pride, and LeAnn Rimes. He was also a highly respected arranger and composer. Randy was a member of The American Federation of Musicians and AFTRA. He also worked for more than a decade as a certified financial planner. Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel H. and Kathleen Turner Fouts. He is survived by his son, Brandon H. Fouts of Tyler. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations may be made in Randy's memory to Parent Services Center of Tyler, P.O. Box 6807, Tyler TX 75711; or a charity of your choice.
