Randy R. Olson

Randy R. Olson, age 57, of Mazeppa, passed away peacefully at his home, beside his wife and daughter, on Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, after a courageous battle with cancer. The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, at United Redeemer Lutheran Church, 560 W. Third St., Zumbrota, with the Rev. Dr. Margaret Pleiss-Sippola officiating. Burial will be in Zumbrota Cemetery. A memorial gathering will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, at the Mahn Family Funeral Home - Larson Chapel in Zumbrota and for one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church.

Randy Roy Olson was born on April 1, 1960, in Zumbrota to Arlen and Sheila (Soine) Olson. He grew up on a dairy farm in rural Zumbrota and graduated from Zumbrota High School in 1978. After graduation, Randy continued to work on the family farm for many years. He moved on from dairy farming to raise beef cattle and do custom hay baling. Randy earned technical training as a construction electrician and worked for the past several years as a union lead at Prairie Island Nuclear Plant.

Randy was industrious and most happy working and socializing in his shop, creating and building with steel and metal and restoring older John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping, gardening and he loved to entertain people and joke around. Randy will be remembered for his honesty, loyalty and love of all things pure and simple.

Randy is survived by his wife of 35 years, Alicia; daughter, Nicole; son, Sean; grandchildren, Hannah, Cieara, Adam and Aidan; beloved parents, Arlen and Sheila Olson; sister, Kim (Teresa Sabin-Olson) Olson; and his pet cats, Pester and Stuart.

Randy was preceded in death by his grandparents.
