Randy Strong Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 6, 2025.
Randy Strong, age 71, of Manchester, Tennessee, passed away on December 29, 2024, after a courageous two-year battle with cancer.

Born on February 8, 1953, in Smyrna, Tennessee, Randy was a gifted musician who taught himself to play the guitar and could master nearly any instrument he encountered. His passion for music was a cornerstone of his life and one he lovingly shared with his children.

In his youth, Randy was a dedicated athlete who spent countless hours on the softball field wearing his signature #10 jersey. He played in numerous leagues over the years, cherishing the memories and friendships he built along the way. Later in life, Randy discovered a love for bowling, participating in leagues where he formed lasting bonds and found immense joy. Bowling also became a beloved family activity that brought him great happiness.

Professionally, Randy was a highly skilled residential painter who took great pride in his work. Having learned the trade from his grandfather, he earned respect for his craftsmanship and dedication to excellence.

A lifelong fan of the New York Yankees, Randy's devotion to his team was unmistakable-he could often be found wearing Yankees gear regardless of the season or their record.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Villers and Elton Strong Jr., as well as his brother, Elton Strong III. He is survived by his loving wife, Tara Strong; six children: Stephanie (Mike) Ayo, Rudy (Bobbi) Strong, Shannon Strong, Tyler (Meghan) Strong, Keaton Strong, and Briana Strong; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with more on the way; and a niece and nephew.

The family will receive friends for visitation at Trinity United Methodist Church, 2303 Jones Blvd., Murfreesboro, TN 37129, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., immediately followed by a Celebration of Life service.

Randy's legacy as the patriarch of his family will live on in their hearts forever.
