Gueydan - Darlan Ray Benoit
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Peter's Catholic Church for Ray Benoit, 78 of Lafayette, LA on Saturday, December 1, 2018 at 1:00 PM. Visitation will be held at Matthews & Son Funeral Home on Friday, November 29th from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a rosary recited at 6:00 PM. Ray will be laid to rest in Gueydan Cemetery with Father Corey Campeaux officiating.
Ray was born in Kaplan, LA on August 12, 1940 to Wilfred Benoit and Willa Mae Cormier Benoit. Ray was called to his heavenly Father on November 27, 2018. Ray loved being outdoors, fishing and hunting. He worked for the City of Lafayette for 18 years. In his younger days he went to Cursillo. Most of all Ray loved the time he was able to spend with all of his family. He was a kind and loving man who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ray leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife, Luther B. Benoit of Basile, LA; his two daughters, Lisa Benoit Thibodeaux (Glenn) of Lafayette, LA, Debbie Benoit Boudreaux (Layne) of Lafayette, LA; his son, Mark Benoit (Chrissie) of Rayne, LA; his five grandchildren, Nicole Thibodeaux, Lindsay Boudreaux, Chad Thibodeaux, Hunter Benoit, & Blair Boudreaux; his two great grandchildren, Dylan & Emily Bellard.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred Benoit and Willa Mae Broussard.

I´m very sorry about the death of Ray. When I worked at the Lafayette PD he was my supervisor. When my father died on Jan. 1979, Ray became a father figure to me and really helped me thru the healing process. I just learned of his passing yesterday. I will always remember him fondly.
