I believe Ray was Henry's best friend ever. They worked with the horses together, they were in an accident together, they took the Model T to Baltimore and had many other adventures. Ray gave his half of the Model T to Henry. They both put up with me. Now sadly, both are gone. Henry passed October 29th, 2020. Thinking of you all.

I first met Ray and Helen in June of 2005. Both of them are remembered dearly. I only wished they were around longer. But life is such. May the Mackey family be comforted and may Ray be reunited with Helen at the table of the good Lord.

To Dr. Mackey's family and friends, my deepest sympathies. Dr. Mackey was a significant contributor in the founding organization that is known today as the Epilepsy Foundation Central & South Texas. His passion and compassion for people and families struggling with epilepsy are the pillars of our principles. He was such a kind and gentle person who was so genuine and giving to others. Thank you Dr. Mackey for all you did for our community. Bless you.

I was a rental housemate with Ray for 2 years during our
medical school at University of Rochester. He was scholarly
with a great sense of humor. My wife, Anne, and I enjoyed time with him during several reunions including one at San Antonio.

I was Dr. Mackey's secretary for a short time in the seventies when he was head of Pediatric Neurology at UT Health Science Center in San Antonio. He was the nicest man I've ever met.

Dr. Mackey made a lasting impression on me when he assisted on a legal case at least 18 years ago. His vast knowledge and experience helped to solve the puzzle of what caused a tragic neurological outcome for a very young patient and Dr. Mackey was able to explain the complicated medical terms and diagnosis in a manner that any lay person could easily understand. He was the most impressive expert witness I have ever presented to a court. Through small talk made during the relatively short time we worked together on a single case, perhaps 8 months or a year, I was struck by his obvious and deep love for his family. My deepest condolences for your loss.

Ray was my friend through he being a cousin of my brother-in-law (Fred Botkin) of Churchville, VA. I knew his family while living in Virginia. He moved to San Antonio,TX shortly after we moved here in 1965. We spent several times with his family including great meals together. When my grandson, Jason was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy in mid 1985, I called Ray and he told me everything about this disease. He also offered to sit down with my daughter and son-in-law and talk with them.

Ray was a great friend to everyone and a great doctor. He will be MISSED.

LOVE & GOD BLESS!

Jonathan, Mackey Family,

I met Ray Mackey only on one occasion when Jon and his parents visited in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. I remember being struck by how strength and compassion met so comfortably in Ray Mackey.

I will remember Ray at the table of the Lord tomorrow morning. May his soul rest in the peace of God's kingdom; may his family know comfort and assurance of God's love.

To the family of Dr. Mackey... it was our honor and privilege to care for your Dad with Helping Our Seniors. He was a gentleman and a scholar not to mention a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. Heaven has welcomed a great person within its gates. God bless you all.
