Joyce Jones Ricks

Joyce Jones Ricks, 83, of 708 Hampton Road, widow of Joseph Alvin Ricks, was a much-loved mother and grandmother who will be so missed, but had a homecoming in Heaven Sunday, June 9, 2002.

Mrs. Ricks was born in Fayetteville, N.C., and was a daughter of the late Duncan Henry and Mary Pigford Jones. She was a graduate of Peace College and a retired accountant. She was a former member of Eaglewood Presbyterian Church in Rocky Mount, N.C., and currently a member of Easley Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Ricks enjoyed many hobbies, including growing and arranging flowers, bird watching and painting, and was an avid reader.

Survivors include a sister, Estelle McDaniels; a brother, Duncan Jones; three daughters, Brenda Joyce Ricks of the home, Becky Ricks Cornett of Colbran, Colo., and Patricia Ricks Roach of Liberty; five grandchildren, Sean Cornett, Stephen Cornett and Jeremiah Cornett, all of Grand Junction, Colo., Kelly Columbus of Greenville and Meghan Garrett of Pickens; and three great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 12, 2002, at Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.

The family will receive friends, prior to the service, Wednesday, June 12, 2002, from 9 to 9:45 a.m., at Dillard Memorial Funeral Home.
