Mike and I have been out of town for awhile and I decided to check on local news. What a shock to hear of your loss. Rev. Streets touched so many lives just by his loving presence. Our paths crossed with Ray's sons and my boys through school activities. He supported each and every one of them with words of encouragement. They all knew how genuine a person he was. God bless you all..

Dear Jane and children:
Pastor Ray graced us with the blessing of knowing him. He was such a Godly man, saving hundreds of lost souls. Pastor Ray was really special to us. He was one of those persons who crosses your path once in a lifetime and has such a profound impact that you can never forget.
We were so happy to know that since the day God chose to take you home, you are now resting in Jesus's arms. Pastor Ray could always share the Gospel that really meant something to you. You were a true Evangelist. We loved Pastor so much and will miss you dearly, but will remember how very special he was to us in so many Godly ways. We will be anxiously waiting to see you in Heaven when it is our turns. Pastor Ray Streets SR, enjoy your eternal life in the sunlight of God. Well done Faithful servant of God.
Loving Always!

There was a warmth so real, loving and tender in that handshake and smile you got from Pastor Ray. My mother, Anna, adored him. Her Sunday was incomplete until he gave her that big bear hug…and she basked in that tenderness all week. She knew he was always there for her and she loved sharing stories about how he constantly brightened her life for 30 years as her pastor. Can you imagine what a welcome home celebration there was in heaven on February 5th when he arrived? There is something truly special about Emmanuel Baptist Church, because it began with a very humble preacher, Pastor Ray, who shared his deep love for God and sinners in such a profound and personal way that one was never the same once they sat under his teaching. You always walked out of the service feeling God’s love. I am sad and will miss not seeing him there during my visits to Johnstown. I want to extend my heartfelt sympathies to Jane, David, Ray JR, Debbie and the rest of the family. May the Lord comfort you at this time in your great loss. His memory will linger on in my heart until I see him again one day in glory. Thank you, Pastor Ray, for making such a difference in all of our lives.

We belonged to Mt. Calvary Luthern but by the outreach of Pastor Ray's ministry to ask our daughter Wendy to be a part of the mission trip to Canada as a counselor and teacher, we as a family were made a part of his family. Ray's sincerety was something you had to respect and I was forever grateful, as a father of four children, that he had come into our lives. I always felt that Betty and I were touched by a hand of God's here on earth and that each of our children and ourselves were blessed to have known him as a Pastor and a friend.

Our deep felt sympathies to all of the family.

Jane, Ray, Debbie , David and families,
I was so sorry to learn of the unexpected passing of Pastor. Pastor and Emmanuel will always hold a special place in my heart. I grew up coming to Emmanuel and then 44 years later got to be married there. I will always remember Pastor’s warm and kind smile, but most of all his love for the Lord. Because of him I was saved at Emmanuel as were so many others. Pastor is in heaven rejoicing with so many that are there because of him and his obedience to the Lord. Pastor was also a great neighbor and friend to all of us on Western Avenue. Pastor will be missed by all who knew him. Someday we will get to rejoice with him in Heaven! Well done good and faithful servant!

I thank God for Pastor Ray and all of the Streets family. As long as I can remember, you have been a vital part of my life. It is because of Pastor's ministry that I will be in heaven some day. There are not words to express how greatful I am for that! Your family will always be close in my heart and prayers. Thank you!

Jane, Ray Jr., David and Families,

I am so sorry to hear about Pastor Ray, and share in your loss. Pastor Ray always went out of his way to include us and make us feel welcome. As a teenager I can remember missing his handshake on several occasions as the sermon ended because of the throngs of people trying to talk with him, but he sought me out on the bus to our Sunday school and had them stop and came on the bus just to shake my hand. I didn’t even think he noticed, but it was those little things that meant a lot to an awkward teenager. As I remembered that today, it was his example that made us seek out a church as close to Emmanual’s principles as we moved away from the area. I will always remember Pastor Ray and how much he meant to my family growing up bringing us to the Lord. It is so easy to carry on that faith because of the rich teaching at Emmanual. I too often quote Pastor Ray’s “To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord” and what a peace it is to know we can be sure that we will all meet again.

Jane, Ray Jr, Dave, Debbie and families. I am sad to hear about your loss, but am happy to know that he is with our Lord in Heaven even as we greave. I will always be thankful for his love of missions and his willing desire to help others serve either long term or just a simple mission trip. Even though I have been gone for a few years, I miss all of you and will miss Pastor Ray's smiling face.

Mrs. Streets and family,
My relationship with Pastor Ray goes back to the mid 70's. Through a mutual friend Rev. Chance Ickes. Pastor Ray and I seemed to always bump into one another quite often. A few years ago I stopped to see him to tell him that over the years he had been a positive influence in my life, and that I wanted him to know that. He smiled, and with a tear in his eye he said thank you. I'm sure that i'm not alone in saying that. He will be greatly missed

February 9, 2009

Dear Jane and Family,
What a loss for all; for surely Pastor Ray was a man after God's own heart, able to reach many, some of whom may never have heard the gospel were it not for him wanting to reach all for Christ. Little did I know how my whole life would be changed when one day I was "dragged" up over the hill to this place called Emmanuel Baptist. Pastor Ray tried hard to make me feel at home and on the first day there I met my future husband. God has a master plan and Pastor Ray was used abundantly by God. I can almost imagine how excited he is to meet the Lord, talk with the disciples, and greet once more all those who went on before him. Because you and we were truly blessed we truly hurt and that is natural. But soon I pray you find comfort and peace in the knowledge he is waiting and will be there to greet us when it is our time. In the meantime he is busy talking and sharing!

February 9, 2009

Pastor Ray had more impact on my faith and spritual convictions than anyone I've ever met. He was there with us when my father passed away suddenly and unexpectedly at Lee Hospital one stormy night 24 years ago, and helped introduce me to a calm and confidence that comes with feeling the presence and grace of the Lord. That feeling and assurance has never left me despite many challenges along the way, including the passing of my mother, Anna, two years ago, who truly loved and was faithfully led by Pastor for over 30 years. Pastor Ray was gracious enough to perform her memorial service, and in his inimitable way -- with his humor, his insight, and his strong faith -- allowed our family to lay her to rest knowing that she was in "good hands". I am greatly saddened to hear of his passing, and feel that another major piece of me is no longer in this world. I will miss him greatly, and offer my heartfelt sympathies to Jane, David, Ray Jr, Debbie and the rest of the family. May the peace of Christ be with you all.

Jane, Ray, Jr., Dave, Debbie:

I was 16 years old when the Streets family arrived in Johnstown. My father, Oscar Swanson was a Deacon and on the Pulpit Committee that offered the ministry to Ray Streets. Thank God for such a wonderful man. I remember my father telling my mother, Mary Ruth, my sister Joann, my brother Don and myself how fortunate we were to have Rev. Streets, Jane and family accept the ministry at EBC.

I have many fond memories of Ray Streets that go back to youth group picnics at Shawnee State Park and "grass" sandwiches (what a prankster he was) for lunch while we were building the new church on Luther Road in Richland Twp. Pastor Ray will be greatly missed by those who were touched by his example. His legacy will live on through his family.

As I reflect back on my life and growing up at Emmanuel, I can remember all of the days coming to church and being greeted with a smile by Pastor Ray. His strong Scriptural teaching brought me to my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Pastor Ray help guide me in my decision to attend Bob Jones University. Every time I return home I was always greeted with a hug from Pastor Ray and hello "Dean of Women". I will miss those greetings when I am back at Emmanuel. I am so thankful that he is home with his Lord, walking those streets of gold. I am sure his passing was quite a shock to the family. God knew it was time to take His faithful servant home. His work on earth was complete. I pray the Lord's peace upon your family at time of sorrow. One day we will see him again.

To the Streets familly, church family and to the community. The homegoing of Pastor was a shock to Doug and I. He will be grealty missed but if there is one thing I can said for certain is that is rejoicing in the presents of his father. He gave an invitation when I was a teenager to accept Christ and thank God I did. Because of the strong foundation I received at the church our children and grandchildren all know Christ as Saviour, all because of one man. Pastor had such a heart for people and his greatest desire was that all should know Crhist. He was not only our Pastor but a true friend. I know when he met God at the gates of Heaven, God's words to him were Well done thy good and faithful servant. We love and we will miss him dearly.

I grew up with Pastor Streets preaching. My own children grew up a good part of their lives with him as their pastor. Not only did Pastor Streets marry my first husband, Bob and I, he also dedicated our children, was willing to hold the funeral for my father-in-law and then was there for us when Bob died also. Through the many trials, blessings and other things too numerous to mention here, I have many fond memories of Pastor Streets. He helped my parents be able to adopt me, so he was in my life before I even knew it. He will be missed dearly, and it won't be the same coming to visit without his hugs and smiling face. My prayers are with the family and especially Mrs. Streets. I know that Pastor Streets is having a wonderful time right now and he is finally able to see how his life has affected so many throughout multiple generations. I am grateful to have known such a fine man of God.

Dear Streets Family
Pastor Ray was a wonderful man and now he is going to be a wonderful Heavenly worker of GOD
this is what he worked all his life for and now he is in Heaven with our Lord
and Savior JESUS CHRIST,
this should be a wonderful celebration of his life
but as our earthly bodies we are sad because of the physical loss. he is missed and loved.
but now he is above watching down on all of us.
I am reminded of his sayings when he was young and the pastor asked him if he was saved and he said that he was never lost. he is surely not lost now he is where he belongs where there is no pain or sickness just peace and love
he will sadly missed and loved
GOD BLESS YOU PASTOR RAY
GOD BLESS THE STREETS FAMILY
GOD BLESS EMMANUEL

I have just finished reading all of the many wonderful messages shared by those touched by Reverend Ray Streets—as a friend, counselor, and pastor. I am writing as one of Cousin Ray’s family in North Carolina. I cannot adequately express how much my brothers Ben and David, my sister Mary Kay, and myself, appreciate the Christian love that Pastor Ray gave my Mom and Dad and all of us children. Jane and Ray responded immediately with the passing of my parents to travel more than 8 hours to conduct their funeral services. More importantly, my Dad could expect a card nearly every day from his Cousin Ray with stories about his beloved PA and most importantly with uplifting and reassuring words. After my Dad died, my sister enjoyed the same reliable correspondence—in fact, she received her last card from Ray today, sent the day before his death. I know that my Mom and Dad are now enjoying Ray’s company again in Heaven. We extend our deepest sympathy to Jane and the rest of the family. Dennis Streets, and Dawn, Clark and Matt

My thoughts & prayers are going out to the family & to the Church "family" of Emmanual Baptist. I attended many of Ray Sr.'s contemporary services. He helped me through a difficult time in my life for which I will always be grateful. I was unsure of myself & my faith for a while, but was eventually baptized at Emmanuel. My faith has helped me through a very difficult year. I lost both of my parents in 2008 & my mother-in-law, also. Jesus has promised a place for us to meet again someday. My sympathy to all of you.

Peace and Love!

May the Lord's, peace comfort you during this time of loss. May His, love continue to be a blessing to all of you. Pastor Ray, has done the Lords, work for a long time. The seed that he has spread has gone far and wide. The Lord Jesus, has used Pastor Ray, to bring many lost souls (including me) unto the Lord. Pastor Ray, has helped changed many lives.

I know that he was just a man (but what a man), and The Lord, is the one who gets all the Praise and Glory.

The biggest thing about Pastor Ray, was his heart and the willness to do the Lord, will.

My heart is filled with sadness and joy. The sadness for your lost and the joy of the knowledge that Pastor Ray, is home with the Lord.

Our hearts go out to all of you over the loss of Pastor Streets. He made church a wonderful learning experience for me when I was younger and would attend services with my sister. Mrs. Streets was my 1st grade teacher and I just want to send our deepest sympathy to her and her children over the loss of such a great man. He will be sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to know such a remarkable human being.

February 7, 2009

My sympathy, after reading and shedding a few tears Pastor Ray had a lot of friends, and more importantly had "saved" or had something to do with saving thousands of souls throughout his lifetime of service to GOD. Boy! he must have a crown with many jewels on it!! But we are "human" and must grieve, as we will miss him, but should be proud he is in a better place!

My heart is so saddened at the earthly death of Pastor Ray, Sr., but is also so joyful knowing he is alive with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Pastor Ray (and Jane) are two special people and along with their family set an example of what would be pleasing in the Lord’s sight. When I moved to Johnstown in the early 90’s it was the beginning of December and I started going to Emmanuel Church. Pastor made sure I was completely made at home immediately in so many ways including inviting me over for New Year’s dinner with his family because I was alone. What a special day and family. That act of kindness and so many other things he did have stayed in my thoughts along with the big hugs he always gave. After moving out of the area, it was always a special moment to visit and see Pastor and get one of those big hugs and a welcome. I was looking forward to seeing him this Easter when I would visit again, but I guess the Lord had other plans. Pastor’s preaching was always “right on” and you could always see him living the life that would be pleasing in the Lord’s sight. He was always concerned about those who did not know the Lord as their Savior and would show them through faith in Christ how they could be assured of eternal life. He loved the Lord with such a passion and was please to treat people in every way, as the Lord would want him to. He will truly be missed by so many, but I am sure his legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of many.

To Jane and the family……thank you for sharing Pastor Ray with us. I know you will miss his earthly presence with you, but will look forward to seeing him in heaven some day. I am sorry I cannot come in to Johnstown at this time because of illness. I will be praying for a special peace and comfort from the Lord be given to you all during this time of the earthly loss of Pastor Ray.

Love you,

Pastor Ray, Pastor Dave and family:
Two years ago my father went to be with the Lord and I was given a poem that I would like to share with all of you.
To my dearest friends and family, there are some things I'd like to say. But first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I,m writing this from heaven, here I dwell with God above. Here, there's no more tears of sadness; there is just eternal love. Please do not be unhappy because I am out of sight. Remember that I am with you every morning, noon and night. That day that I had to leave you when my life on earth was through, God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you." "It's good to have you back again: you were missed while you were gone. As for your friends and family, they'll be here later on. I need you here badly; you're part of my plan. There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man." God gave me a list of things that He wished for me to do, and foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you. I will be beside you every day and week and year and when you're sad I'll be standing there to wipe away the tear. When you lie in bed at night the day's chores put to flight, God and I are closest to you in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years,
because you are only human they are bound to bring you tears. But, do not be afraid to cry, it does relieve the pain. Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain. I wish that I could tell all that God has planned. If I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand. But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o're, I'm closer to you now than I ever was before. And to my very special family, trust God knows what is best, I'm still not far away from you I,m just beyond the crest. There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb; but together we can do it by taking one day at a time. When you're walking down the street and you've got me on your mind, I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
When you feel the gentle breeze or the wind upon your face, that's me giving you a great big hug or just a warm embrace. When it's time for you to go...from that body to be free; remember you're not going...you're coming to here to me. I will always love you from that land way up above. Will be in touch again soon. P.S. God sends His Love.

Pastor will be missed by all of us, but its a wonderful thing for us to know as Christians where he is . I greatly appreciate all that I have learned from him and all that he has done for me, being a tool of Christ. My prayers and thoughts go out to everyone in this time of loss.

Our late mother, Dorothy Raab, highly respected Pastor Ray Streets for his exemplary life and bible-based sermons. When she visited us in Georgia, Pastor Streets faithfully sent her weekly church bulletins and always included a personal note. His passing will be a great lost to the Johnstown area and beyond, but comfort lies in knowing that he is eternally praising God with those who have gone before him.

Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

Much love and prayers going out to you all...Pastor Ray was one in a million and I will never forget his hugs or his wonderful sense of humor and fun. He loved his Lord, he loved his family and he loved the church...we will all miss him - but only for a while! How wonderful to know that we WILL see him again!
