Don Sherwood

Don Sherwood passed away September 3, 2015 at the age of 80 from pancreatic cancer. He is survived by Pat Sherwood, his wife of 57 years, his 3 children and spouses Susan & Michael McKerley, Eddie & Lindsay Sherwood and Alan & Michelle Sherwood; brother Bobby and Nancy Sherwood, and brother-in-law Wynne and Dorella Grubbs. Don was a loving Grandfather to 8 grandchildren from ages 3-25 and a beloved Uncle to 14 nieces and nephews. Born in Alcoa, Don grew up in Knoxville, was a graduate of the University of Tennessee, and a resident of Maryville for over 50 years. Don managed family owned Maryville Furniture Company and was always a proud supporter of the community. He was a past President of Maryville Kiwanis Club, where he was a member for over 40 years. He served as President of the Blount County Chamber of Commerce. Don also served several years on the University of Tennessee Legislative Council as well as president of the Tennessee Retail Furniture Association. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Maryville. He will be remembered as a strong, hard-working family man of the Christian faith who loved and enjoyed his family. Memorial service will be held Sunday at 2:00pm with visitation at 3:00-5:00pm at Smith Trinity Chapel with Rev. Charles Ballard and Rev. Emerson Wiles officiating.
