Raymond F. Belisle

CHICOPEE - Raymond F. Belisle, 83, was peacefully called home July 21, following a battle with cancer. His beloved wife of 61 years, Rita (LeBel), passed away in February of this year, also from cancer. They were lifelong residents of Aldenville. Raymond was the son of the late Louis and Lillian (Goddu) Belisle. He leaves his children, Jeanne Latour and her husband, Marc, of Newnan, GA, Leonard Belisle of Warwick, RI, Cynthia Ellis-Reen and her husband Thomas of Springfield, MA. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, Rob and Steve Latour, Greg and Jeff Belisle, Scott, Tim and Meredith Ellis; 8 great-grandchildren; his brother Norman Belisle of Aldenville, his sisters-in-law, Lorraine Deziel of Aldenville and Cris LeBel of South Hadley, several nieces and nephews, and many cherished friends. Raymond was a retiree of Savage Arms Corp. of Chicopee and Westfield, and then worked as a mechanic for Chicopee Electric Light Department. He also owned and operated Ray's Auto Service in Aldenville. He was a veteran of World War II, stationed in Germany. He was a past member of the American Legion, Post 337, in Aldenville, and a past committee member of Boy Scout Troop 138. There will be no calling hours. The funeral Mass will be held Friday, August 1 at 12:30 p.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street in Springfield. Burial will take place at a later date, at the convenience of the family in lieu of flowers, donations in Raymond's memory can be made to Hospice of New England, 50 Maple Street. Grampa ( "GRUMP" ) - I miss you more everyday.. I know you are happy now with gramma, and that is how it should always be..Thank you for being the best grampa in the whole world.. please watch over us and always stay by our sides,as you will always stay in our hearts..
