VALDOSTA — Raymond Andrew Bell, 79, of Valdosta died Sunday, July 12, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 16, at Central Avenue Church of Christ in Valdosta with the Rev. Brian Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow at Sardis Cemetery.Born Sept. 6, 1929, in Colquitt County, Mr. Bell was the son of the late Charlie and Ethel Bell. He came to Valdosta in July 1972 where he was a realtor and was active with the Boys' Club. He was a member of the Central Avenue Church of Christ. He served 28 years in the U.S. Air Force.He was preceded in death by his first wife, Irene Elizabeth Bell; and his sister, Shirley Snow. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo Bell of Valdosta; children, Bobby Short and wife Kelly of Ft. Collins, Colo., Linda Tiemann and husband Lloyd of Bulverde, Texas, Janice Verette and Keith Bell and wife Carol, all of San Antonio, Texas, Sheri Coats and husband Scott of Boerne, Texas, Kevin Bell and wife Suzanne of Dayton, Ohio, and Greg Bell and wife Ferres of McDonough; stepchildren Greg McLeod and wife Sandy, Debbie Murphy and husband Jimmy, Kip McLeod and wife Julie, all of Valdosta; grandchildren, Robbie Short, Lisa Gabriel, Heather Wassner and husband Brian, Elizabeth Tiemann, Aaron Blankenship, Adam Blankenship, Toni Yanity, Ryan Bell, Jessica Bell, Kathryn Bell, Sarah Bell, Justin Bell and wife Tracy, Jonathan Bell, Lindsay Bell, Scott Bell, Samuel Bell; stepgrandchildren, Kristin McLeod, Derrick McLeod, Kohle McLeod, Greyson McLeod, Rett McLeod; a great-grandchild, Brooklyn Wassner; sisters, Thelma Williams, Virginia Tucker and husband Don, and Lona Dozier and husband Charles; brothers, Alvin Bell, Dolan Bell and wife Lily, Charles Bell, and Darrell Bell; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Central Avenue Church of Christ, 304 E. Central Ave., Valdosta, 31602 or Hospice of South Georgia, P.O. Box 1727, Valdosta, 31603.
