OBITUARY RAYMOND ALEXANDER COOKE July 4, 1926 to December 30, 2006. It is with feelings of great sadness we announce the passing of Ray Cooke who passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, Calgary, Alberta, Saturday, December 30, 2006. Ray was born in Montreal, July 4, 1926 and he resided there until he moved to Calgary in 1980. He will be greatly missed by his wife of fifty-nine years, Thelma and his son Philip (Anne Helmuth); and daughter Karen and as well as his beloved pet Scottie. He is survived by Gordon (Denise), Muriel (Bob) of Quebec and Edward of Nova Scotia and many nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by his comrades and friends from the various veteran / naval organizations he belonged to. Ray joined the RCNVR at the age of 17 and served as an "able seaman" in WWII until January 1946. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, an active and life member of the Corvette Navy Club, and served in the Corps of Commissionaires. Ray was a member of the Calgary Naval Museum. The family wishes to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of Unit 53 of the Peter Lougheed for the wonderful care. A Memorial Service will be held at Foster's Garden Chapel, 3220 - 4 Street N.W., Calgary (across from Queen's Park Cemetery) on Thursday, January 4, 2007 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directly to The Naval Museum of Alberta Society, 1820 24th Street SW Calgary, Alberta T2T 0G6 or the Alberta Lung Association P.O.
