Raymond William Coury
October 22, 1932 - September 14, 2020

Raymond William Coury died quietly at his home in the early morning on September 14th. Estela, his loving wife of 49 years, and his two children Ian Coury and Najla Coury Barile were at his side.
Raymond was born in Torrance and raised in Redondo Beach. He was the youngest son of William and Footeen Coury. He graduated from Redondo Union High School in 1949. After graduating from high school he joined the US Army and served in Okinawa, Japan. In 1956, after serving in the Army, Raymond returned to California to join his brothers at the family business, Coury and Son Cleaners. Having grown up in the community, the brothers were known familiarly around town as the "Coury brothers". The cleaners also served as a social hub: patrons would come to socialize, often enjoying coffee and donuts.
Raymond and Estela had just recently celebrated 49 years of marriage. Raymond was a loyal husband who truly treasured his wife and children. He was also a devoted member of his congregation, being one of Jehovah's Witnesses. His strong belief system as well as his upbringing made him who he was: kind, generous, hospitable, loving, and someone who always was ready to help in any way.
Throughout his life, Raymond enjoyed eating out,
spending time with friends and playing canasta. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Estela Coury , his children, Ian Coury and Najla Coury Barile , his grandchildren, Dylan and Lauren Coury, Leonardo and Eva Grace Barile and His Son and daughter in law Pino Barile and Anita Coury.
