BUCKSPORT - Raymond H. Dorr, 77, died peacefully Saturday, March 5, 2011, with his loving family by his side, in Brewer. He was born March 9, 1933, in Bucksport, the son of Harold J. and Marion A. (Bridges) Dorr. He worked for St. Regis Paper Co., Bucksport School Department and retired from Bucksport Fire Department as captain, serving as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking and took pride in his gardening. Raymond was an avid bird and animal watcher. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Norma A. (Smith) Dorr; four daughters, Brenda Overlock and husband, Robert, of Bucksport, Kathy Downes of Bucksport, Rhonda Harrison and husband, David, of Frankfort and Pam Fleming and husband, Jim, of Bucksport, 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild, as well as his faithful canine companion, Peter. He is also survived by one sister, Trudy Millett of Bucksport; sisters-in-law, Arlene Freeman of Bucksport and Joyce Sanborn and husband, Ernest, of Florida; one brother-in-law, Paul Smith and wife, Marge, of Monroe; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by four grandchildren, several brothers and sisters-in-law. Family and friends will gather for visitation 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, March 8, at Mitchell-Tweedie Funeral Home, 28 Elm St., Bucksport. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Franklin Street United Methodist Church with Pastor Peter Remick officiating. Memorial contributions in Raymond's memory may be made to American Cancer Society, New England Division, Inc., One Bowdoin Mill Island, Suite 300, Topsham, ME 04086 or Alzheimer's Association, 170 U.S. Route One, Suite 250, Falmouth, ME 04105.
