Raymond “Sonny” Arnold Ellis, Jr., of Terrell, passed away Sept. 27, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. Sonny was born March 15, 1943 in Dallas, Tx to Raymond, Sr. and Helen (Haskins) Ellis, both of whom preceded him in death along with his daughter, Lori Ann Ellis, granddaughters: Annabelle Burns and Ravyn Starr; grandson, Robert Lee; and siblings: Cecil Ellis and Rose Williams.
Sonny worked as a Master Plumber as both owner and subcontractor in Dallas, Farmers Branch, and then later with Chip Miller Plumbing in Wills Point. Early in his life, he was a truck driver and loved to travel to new places. He enjoyed going to the Mesquite Rodeo and working on old cars in his spare time. He also enjoyed spending time with family going fishing and making longlasting and treasured memories. His amazing personality put everyone he met at complete ease and his great sense of humor made him the ideal jokester who made everyone smile. Sonny was also a man who made sure to show his soft heart and there wasn’t a day that went by that he didn’t tell his family how much he appreciated and loved each one of them. A loving father and devoted grandfather and Sonny will be missed by all who knew him.
Sonny is survived by his children: Tammie Dindy of Holdenville, OK, Mark Ellis of Anchorage, AK, Terry Ellis-Williams and wife, Luebirder of Baton Rouge, LA, Shannon Fraze and husband, Bo, of Venus, TX, Misty Peaslee and wife, Michelle of Winter Garden, FL and Wendy Burns and husband, Wes, of Terrell, TX; grandchildren: Chad Countryman and wife, Stephanie, Colby Countryman and wife, Michelle, Lucy Mayne and husband, Jared, Samantha Ellis, Shayla Williams, Tara Ellis-Williams, Annie Duncan, Aidan Fraze, Sierra Fraze, Clayton Burns; devoted caretaker and life partner, Lottie Copeland of Terrell; 13 great grandchildren; sister, Jeanette Wright and husband, Jim; brothers: Doug Ellis and Tommy Ellis and wife Pam, as well as extended family and a host of friends.
The family would also like to extend a special thank you to Dr. Lance and Debbie Vickers of Baylor Medical Center for the continuous devotion toward caring for Ray.
Funeral service will be at 7:00pm, Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2015 at Anderson-Clayton Bros. Chapel with the family receiving friends beginning at 6:00pm.
