Raymond (Ray) "Beam" Malcolm Gehrig, aged 77, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away on June 2, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He was born on November 5, 1946, in Arlington, Virginia. to Col. Raymond M. Gehrig and Sally Gehrig.

Ray, known for his dedication and service, leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished by many.

Ray served in the Air Force from 1964 to 1968, where his commitment and bravery were commendable. He later transitioned into a career as a Police Officer in Midwest City where he served from 1973 until 1985. While there, he and his trusted partner, Bear, pioneered the first K9 unit. He then continued his service as a Police Officer in Edmond, demonstrating unwavering dedication in law enforcement throughout his career until he retired in 2006. After retirement, Ray remained active in his community as a devoted member and ultimately, Assistant State Captain of the Oklahoma Patriot Guard Riders.

Ray is survived by his loving daughters, Nikki Cook and Renee Musgrove, along with their husbands, Jeremiah and JJ, respectively. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Grant Musgrove & wife Maddie; Miah Miller & husband Lofton; Destinie Wilson & husband Shane; and Jude Cook, as well as his great-grandchildren, Denver, Rider, Hudson, and Hadley (due in July). Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Sally "Twink" Derosier, and his brother Thomas "Flick" Gehrig.

Ray Gehrig's commitment to service and his selfless dedication to his family and community will forever be remembered and cherished. His impact on those around him will continue to inspire and uplift many.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the Chicken Shack in Arcadia, OK on Friday, 06/14/24, from 5:30-9:00 as a come & go. There will be a short, informal service at 6:00 with the Patriot Guard Riders honoring him.

I am his first cousin; he is Beam to us. We saw a lot of him as a child, but lost touch when he grew up and moved to Oklahoma. Christmas cards, but that was it. We missed him then, and we miss him now.
