Dear Kathy, I was stunned to learn today of Ray's sudden passing. There are so many things about Ray that I hold fond memories of, and with reading the many memorials left by people who were touched by him, I was reminded of many more. I remember the pink shirts that he looked so handsome in, and the way he spoke so lovingly and proudly of all of his kids, and Mulligan, the dog. A flood of memories came back to me and I feel so very sorry for your profound loss. But mostly I want to say that Ray was such a decent man, a man of honor and character, who treated my husband, Dr. Robert Durning, with the greatest respect durning all of the days that he worked with Ray up until the day he got sick and the months following until my husband died. That, I will never forget. You were so lucky to have such a man for your husband and role model for your children. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. Hold tightly to each other, nothing helps more.

My heartfelt condolences to the entire family. I knew Ray professionally where we fondly nicknamed him "Sugar Ray" as he usually came bearing cookies or muffins or some other sweet treat. Always dapper, always smelled great, that huge grin, ready to help solve your problem of the day, and always, always, always telling stories about his beloved family. And dog. So sorry to be hearing this sad news. May he rest peacefully in paradise.

I'm very saddened to hear of Coach Ray's death. As one of the thousands of former players, I can attest to the impact he had on my life. He taught me how to compete, how to do my best and how to be gracious in victory and to lose with class. He was a great influence on who I am today.
I wish I could have been with the family today. We'll miss one of the great coaches of all-time. He'll sure be missed.

To all of the Hennessy Family. We are sending our
deepest sympathies. It has been many years, but it
was and still is very much appreciated that Ray and
Kathy let us borrow their family van to travel to
Bridgeport, Conneticut for a PAL basketball tournament when Brian Hennessy and our son Rob
we're 12 years old. Without hesitation, no questions
asked, Ray said sure. Need I say More? Heaven
just acquired a very special angel .

Dear Kathie and family, I was deeply sorry to hear of Ray's sudden passing. He was always a pleasure to work with and to later briefly work for. He could always light up a room with his smile. No other man I know could wear pink like Ray could. He often talked about his family he was truly devoted to all of you. I know the family will miss him dearly. He has left behind a great legacy in all of you. His smile and his quick laughter will live on in my memory. Rest in piece buddy. My you find peace in the arms of our Lord.

Kath, Ray, Sean, Brian, Quinn & Erin; no words will bring Uncle Ray back however we all have so many wonderful memories from Cooperstown Championshios to playing a somewhat sober Santa Claus during family Christmas parties. You recently were honored as Patriarch of the family; a well deserved title. Ray also unselfishly took the role of dad when my dad passed away. It's time Ray takes his place in the empty poker chair. Mom,Grampa, uncle Sonny & Uncle Ken are waiting. I love ya Ray. RIP
