RAYMOND L. "DOC"
After a 2 month battle with Leukemia, died at home on Sat., Jan. 27, 2007. Survived by his beloved wife Diane. Loving father of Donna (Sean) Burns of Monroeville & Paul E. Kuntz II of Las Vegas, NV; doting grandfather of Katie, Rebekah & Joshua Burns; brother of Harry G. of CA, & Alice L. Hosier of VA. Predeceased by Paul E. Kuntz I & Lois Vitner. Raymond received his Doctorate from Penn State in Physical Chemistry in 1975. He taught chemistry, physics and computer science at Turtle Creek High School and later at Woodland Hills High School. He was also adjunct faculty at CCAC Boyce Campus for over 20 years and at Penn State New Kensington and McKeesport. In 1974, he was awarded the Keivin Burns Award for Excellence in Science Teaching by Spectroscopy Society of Pittsburgh. He has also performed with the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds, Delmont Concert Band and Jeannette Community Band. Friends received at GENE H. CORL INC. FUNERAL & CREMATION CENTER OF MONROEVILLE, 4335 Northern Pike (1 block East of Mosside Blvd.-Rte 48) (A Golden Rule Member). Visitation 7-9 PM Mon. & 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tues. Mass of Christian Burial St. Regis Church Wed. 9:30 AM (Trafford). In lieu of flowers, donations to Forbes Hospice or Leukemia Society.

To the Kuntz family, you have my deepest sympathy; sorry to be so late. Ray and I had many classes together at Ambridge High - we were friends. After Ambridge, I went in the service and Ray went to college and we lost touch. I tried at one point to send him a email through Classmates but I guess he didn;t get it.
I;m am sorry that we didn't have an opportunity to have a reunion, he made high school better.

I was blessed to have known Doc as a student at WHHS. (Class of '93) He was a gifted teacher, one that you knew loved his subject, cared about his students, and truly enjoyed what he was doing. The world was a better place for his having been in it. Even though he's not physically with us any longer, every student he touched took some of him with him or her, and through that, Doc will be with us for many, many years.

Paul, my prayers are with you and your family during this time.

I was so saddened by Ray's passing. I fondly remember all the jokes and office chats he and I had at Turtle Creek HS. You and he were always special friends and I thought of him often. He was such a good and kind man. My symathies to you all. Take care

I'm so sorry to hear of the passing of "DOC". During my junior and senior years at Turtle Creek High School, it was Dr. Kuntz who got me interested in computers and helped shape my future career. He was a great teacher and I know everyone that had contact with Dr. Kuntz remembers him fondly

I graduated from TCAHS in 1972 and Mr. Kuntz was my physics teacher. He loved teaching, made learning fun and was very patient with all of his students. "Doc" was my computer science teacher for three years at Woodland Hill High School (Class of '92). He was an outstanding teacher and a kind, funny man. Although I pursued a career in civil engineering, to this day I still am an avid programmer - largely because of him. It was a treasure to work with Ray at Turtle Creek and Woodland Hills. His humor, wit, and congeniality was only exceeded by his diligence and dedication to teaching and helping others. Heart felt sympathy to Ray's family. Ray and I were aquainted through music. I played in the East Winds Symphonic Band and now the Westmoreland Symphonic Winds with him. We shared an interest in golf although we never got to actually play together. We expected to play next year after I retire. Again, my deepest condolences.
