At George High, coach lamb was my math teacher, football, baseball, and wrestling coach. I did not want to wrestle but coach Lamb just told me to be at practice after school. When it came time for college, I had always dreamed of Georgia Tech. When he heard that he came to me and said no. His reasons were; i would attend while living at home, I knew too many people, I liked to have too much fun, and finally GT was hard and I probably would funk out by Halloween. No member of my family had ever attended college so there was no knowledgeable advice to help guide me. I asked him where am I going to go? He said see me tomorrow and the next day he handed me an application to a school I had barely heard of Auburn University. I graduated from Auburn with an undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering and went on to an amazing career at Delta Air Lines and Georgia Tech. My son followed me to Auburn graduating 24 years later. Coach Lamb simply was the most influential teacher I ever had and I owe him for the guidance that shaped my adult career. I was thinking about him when I decided to do an online search and stumbled onto his obituary. To his memory I simply say thank you coach, I will never forget!

Dr. Lamb was my favorite teacher at Northside and truly made learning calculus fun and engaging. What an inspiration. I can still remember vividly taking his class with my tour show friends, and us studying together to make sure we stayed on top of his work and were prepared for his quizzes. His jokes would help relieve any math anxiety and you couldn“t wait to learn. What a gift he was to students who had the opportunity to be in his class!

Dr. Lamb was one of my favorite teachers at Northside High School. He made calculus fun and he thoroughly enjoyed teaching. I hope he has a yard stick and a chalk board in heaven - and NO - I will not be prepared for a quiz when I get there.

I hope and pray that Coach Lamb knew how much he influenced my life and all the rest of our football team at Dykes High School. We were under-sized, under manned, and had limited talent. He convinced me and many others that we could be successful and we were. His Calculus class was so tough that I never saw anything as hard in college. He was a man that I totally respected, and maybe feared a little. I am very thankful to have known him. JOHN SQUIER
