Dallas - Raymond Nasypany, 92, of Granbury, Texas passed away on Wednesday, April 24th in Fort Worth. He was born in Herkimer, NY on March 31, 1932. Mr. Nasypany was the ninth of ten children. After graduating from Herkimer HS, he attended Cornell University. Ray joined the US Air Force and was commissioned and earned his pilot's wings through the Aviation Cadet Program. During his 26 years career, he flew the F-86, F-102, T-33, T37 and F-4 (Vietnam). While stationed in Sioux City, IA, he met the love of his life at a YMCA dance. On August 31, 1957, he married Shiuvaun O'Brien and added another seven siblings. They served in multiple locations, in the US and Europe. During that time, they raised three children and moved over 17 times. The couple retired to Wichita Falls after leaving Active Duty. Ray then worked with IDC, training and employing people with disabilities. Ray's hobbies included carpentry and aviation. The Nasypany's moved to Granbury in 1999 to be "closer to grandchildren." For his 70th birthday, Ray was surprised with an RV-8A kit that he assembled and flew by his 75th birthday. N-507RS was his pride and joy, and he spent many hours working and flying the airplane. He was a member of St Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, MOAA, Daedalians and EAA Chapter 983. Ray is survived by daughters, Mary (Bill Downey) of Corpus Christi, Barbara (Joe Davis) of Dallas; and son, Stephen of San Francisco; granddaughters, Katie Downey (Tom Probert), Olivia Davis; and grandsons, Joey (Maddie) and Henry Davis; sister-in-law, Mary O'Brien; and brother, Joe Nasypany. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shiuvaun; parents, Wasyl and Eva; siblings, Michael, Mary Malinchak (Andy), Jean Mayton (Marty), Peter (Helen), John (Patricia), George (Beatrice), Paul (Frances), Phyllis and Betty Nasypany and Emily McPherson (Vaughn), and his in-laws, Michael and Myrtle O'Brien and Patricia Aiken (Albert), Don (Ruth), Michael (Gladys), John (Doris), Robert (Nella), Phillip, and Thomas. Thursday, May 9, there will be a viewing from 5:00 to 7:00 PM with a Rosary at 6:00 PM at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. Friday, May 10, a Funeral Mass will be offered at 1:00 PM, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Rd, Dallas, TX 75225. Monday, May 13, burial with Military Honors will be at 1:30 PM at DFW National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211. In lieu of flowers, the family ask for donations to be made to the Boys Town Foundation for the Peg Reit Memorial Scholarship Fund.
