Raymond Ojeda Obituary

RAYMOND OJEDA, SR. East Chicago, Indiana Age 77, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2005 while at St. Margaret Hospital in Hammond. Born March 15, 1928 in Dallas, TX, he was the son of the late Jesus and Romalda (Armenta) Ojeda. Raymond proudly served his country in the Navy and attained the class of apprentice seaman. After coming home he was a steelworker at Inland Steel for twenty-three years and also worked for the City of East Chicago in the Parks Department. Hobbies Raymond enjoyed were reading, fishing, and being in the great outdoors. A prankster of a man, he loved to make his family and friends laugh. Mr. Ojeda is survived by his three children: Mary Linda (Fred) Mendez of Hammond, Ray (Janet) Ojeda, Jr. of Westville and Yolanda Ojeda of Miller Beach; ex-wife: Olivia Ojeda-Whyle of East Chicago: close friends, Gonzalo Gil of East Chicago and Macrina Lopez of Miller Beach; sister: Epfonnia Torres of Lorraine, OH: six grandchildren: and four great grandchildren. He also leaves to mourn his passing many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, and eleven brothers and sisters. The family will greet relatives and friends during calling hours held on Thursday, August 11th from 4-8 p.m. in the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 S. Cline Ave. (P.O. Box 109), Schererville. A funeral service with military honors will be held on Friday, August 12, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. He will then be laid to reset in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville.
