Carpenter QUITMAN — Services for Raymond Lee Overby will be held today at 11 a.m. at Wright's Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tom Miller officiating. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Mr. Overby, 82, of Lucedale, died Feb. 16, 2008 at Mobile Infirmary in Mobile, Ala. He was a union carpenter for 50 years. He did construction work and retired from Fletcher Construction Company in 1987. He grew up in Enterprise in the Pine Hill Community. After working many years in Meridian, he moved to Pascagoula. After residing in Jackson County for 32 years he moved to Lucedale in 1991. He was a member of Southside Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Martha Overby, of Lucedale; daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Steve Guin, of Lucedale; grandchildren, James E. Guin his wife, Soon, of Roswell, Ga., Stephen T. Guin and his wife, Diane, Georgia Childree and her husband, Joshua, all of Lucedale; great-grandchildren, Randi Guin, Katelynn Stewart and Madysen Childree, all of Lucedale, Jed and June Guin, of Roswell, Ga.; brothers, Ernest Overy of Enterprise, Dean Overby and his wife, Vashti , of Meridian, Leonard Overby and his wife, Sue, of Moss Point, Roy Overby, of Pascagoula, and Kenny and his wife, Betty, of Valley, Ala.; sisters, Ruth Siler, of Pascagoula, Christine Robinson, Wilmer, Ala., Sybil Ivaldi and her husband, Ernie, El Dorado Hills, Calif. and many nieces and nephews. Mr. Overby was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Ray Overby, father and mother, Early F. and Hattie Bell Overby, brothers, Ross, Jimmy and Jessie Overby. Pallbearers will be Jamie Cook, Stephen Guin, Archie Morris, Dwayne Overby, Mark Overby and Joey Robbins. Honorary pallbearers will be Andy Cook, Bruce Overby, David Overby, Dickie Overby, Don Overby, Mike Overby and Rickie Overby.
