Raymond Rosenberg Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 15, 2009.
Raymond Rosenberg, 87, died at home on Sunday, November 15, 2009, surrounded by his family. Memorial services will be held at 12 noon on Sunday, November 22, 2009 at Temple B'nai Jeshurun. Private burial will be at Jewish Glendale Cemetery. Ray was born to Esther and Albert Rosenberg on November 27, 1921 in Chicago. He grew up in Des Moines, graduating from Roosevelt High School and then earned two degrees from the University of Iowa. His college years were interrupted by nearly three years WWII service in the Army Air Force. He served as a Lieutenant in the Pacific theater. Ray is survived by his wife of sixty years, Gene; his children, Brent, Paul, Daniel (Galena), Robin Harmon (Keith) and Sidonie. He is also survived by grandchildren, Ted and Charlie Harmon and Anna and Ella Rosenberg. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Shirley and Carol Harris and brother, Morton "Mort". For nearly sixty years, Ray Rosenberg enjoyed his career as an excellent trial lawyer. Away from work he was a passionate student of modern history and cinema, particularly the works of Woody Allen. He loved his German Shepherd dogs and they loved him. He experienced a less reciprocal relationship with his cherished Chicago Cubs and Bears and Iowa Hawkeyes. True to the end, Ray struggled out of his death bed Saturday to watch the Hawks fight Ohio State to the wire. The family thanks the Hospice staff, as well as friends, Juanita White, Judy Broxmeyer and Suzy Miller. Memorials can be made to Hospice of Central Iowa or the donor's choice.
