Raymond K Williamson

Ray Williamson was born June 29, 1936 and passed away June 25, 2019. He was a longtime resident of Danville, CA and was just a few day shy of his 83rd birthday. He is survived by his brothers David Williamson (wife Paula) and Everett Williamson (wife Barbara); daughter Lani Roach (husband Dan), step-daughter Stacey Merrill, grandchildren Danielle and Raymond Roach and Nicholas DelBuono. He was preceeded in death by his parents, Ray and Vivian Williamson and his daughter Lesley DelBuono. Ray was also an Uncle to many nieces and nephews and a friend to many. He is often described as a loving, gentle soul and devoted Christian with a great sense of humor. He was also a dedicated "cat Dad" to his companion for 18 years, Siamese Cat Iki. Ray was born in Pittsburg, California. He attended Acalanes High School, graduating in 1954. He then went on to graduate from Stanford University in 1958. While at Stanford, he was a member of the SAE (Sigma Alpha Epsilon) Fraternity. He was an excellent student in addition to being an avid athlete. He had a love for track, throwing the shot put and playing football. He participated in these sports both in high school and college. While attending Stanford, he enrolled in the ROTC where he earned two promotions; one as a Second Lieutenant and later as a Cadet Captain. During his time in the ROTC he was stationed in Hawaii for a brief time where he fell in love with ocean and all the beauty those islands hold. He later got his Real Estate Brokers license and bought, sold and developed real estate, both residential and commercial, for almost 50 years. He and his brother David were partners in the Real Estate business for over 35 years. Ray loved to travel and has great stories from all over the world, but he loved Hawaii most of all vacationing there as often as he could. David and Paula also enjoyed many trips and cruises all over the world with Ray. They shared many unforgettable memories. Travel was definitely one of his passions! Ray and his brother Everett did weekly Bible study together for many years which he enjoyed immensely. He loved learning and staying connected with family. Ray was also a member of The Rock Church in Danville. He looked forward to the weekly messages, the people, the music (and the coffee!) every Sunday. He frequently talked about The Rock's monthly meetings with their S.A.L.T (Seasoned Adult Life Together) group, all the wonderful friends he had met and how much he looked forward to attending. He frequently attended these monthly luncheons with his very dear friend, Laverne, which made the lunches even more special. Ray was very close with his family and friends and always made that extra effort to stay in touch, whether it was a phone call, an email or a lunch date. He was extremely proud of his Grandchildren and never hesitated to brag about their accomplishments whenever he had the chance. He rarely missed one of their sporting or school events (and there were MANY). He was loved by many and will be greatly missed
