Rebecca "Becky" Richardson Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Apr. 25, 2023.

Rebecca (Becky) Richardson of Centreville, MD died April 22 surrounded by loved ones. She was the daughter of Martha Evelyn McKenzie Caldwell and Richard Walker Caldwell. Born in Martinsville, Virginia, on October 5, 1943; she was 79 years old. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Myron Richardson, daughter, Lisa Berry and husband Bill, and granddaughters Brooke and Elise Berry whom she adored more than anything else. All of whom were with her in her last moments. She is also survived by a sister Lou Doll, brother Richard Caldwell, Jr and wife Margaret, and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Jason Dabney Richardson, a brother-in-law, Carl Frederick Doll, and a nephew, Jeffrey Carl Doll.

Rebecca was a graduate of Martinsville High School in Martinsville, Virginia. She attended James Madison University for her preliminary studies and graduated with honors from The Medical College of Virginia. She and Myron were avid worldwide travelers, visiting over ninety different countries. They lived in China for four years prior to retiring and settling in Centreville where she lived for the past 21 years. Rebecca was very artistic and expressed her talents through oil paintings, photography, home decoration, gardening, and many other mediums. She was a wonderful cook and loved cooking for her family. A visit with her grandchildren always included a week of baking prior to the visit. Rebecca was always highly active in the social life of her community wherever she lived. She was heavily involved in St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, her sisterhood PEO which advocates for the education of women and thoroughly enjoyed her weekly Mah Jong sessions with close friends.

The family extends special thanks to caregivers Mariela Franz, Debra Lehmann, Cindy McClain, and the team at Home Instead and to Dr. Carol Tweed and the staff of Maryland Oncology Hematology for their loving support over the past three years.

A Celebration of Life will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Centerville, MD at 2:00PM Sunday April 30, 2023, with a reception following in Donaldson Hall at the church.

In lieu of flowers, please contribute to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 301 S. Liberty St., Centreville, MD 21617.

The burial will be later in Evergreen Cemetery, in Evergreen, Appomattox, Virginia.

As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by the love and support of family and friends. Becky was an asset to our ‘62 class at Mavahi, and one of the nicest. Please accept my sincere sympathy.

I have fond memories of Becky. She was our neighbor in West Chester more than 30 years ago and my faithful walking partner along with our other neighbor Judy. Becky was a kind, thoughtful and a great friend who will be missed dearly. Our deepest sympathy to Becky's family. May God be by your sides and may He bestow His love and peace on you during this difficult time.
