Rebecca Christian Obituary
Christian, Rebecca Shaw (Nana) born June 10, 1925, stepped into heaven Saturday night, October 15, 2016, peacefully at home with her sons by her side. Celebration of life service will be Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 11:00am from Santuck Baptist Church, Hwy 9, Elmore County with the Reverend Morgan Bailey officiating. Mrs. Christian will lie in state 1 hour prior to the celebration service. No flowers please. Donations may be made to Santuck Baptist Church Building Fund or your favorite charity. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery following celebration service.
Visitation will be held Tuesday evening Oct. 18, 2016, Leak Memory Chapel from 5-7pm at 945 Lincoln Rd., Montgomery.
Mrs. Christian was preceded in death by husband Herbert (1995), 9 siblings, and grandchildren Mac Christian and Cynthia Christian. Survivors include sons, Nelson Christian (Diane) of Montgomery, Herchel Christian (Beth) Titus, Kenneth Christian (Kathleen) of Robertsdale, and L. Bruce Christian (Joan) of Santuck, 15 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, and a host of friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons. Special thanks to Jannie Freeman, Jean and Anna Rogers who cared for our Mother as their own. Also, thanks to Baptist Hospice for their extraordinary care during this time. Dear Christian Family: What a sweet lady to be blessed knowing. When growing up at Santuck Ms. Rebecca was always smiling and greeting everyone. What a sweet, sweet Lady, Ms Rebecca. We will never forget the time we visited her and as we joined hands to pray she said, "I feel led to sing a song." and proceeded to lead us in a great hymn of faith. She was a great pillar of the church and will always be remembered by us. May God bless her family with the comfort and peace only He can provide.

My heart is sad at the passing of Mrs Christian. I have known her for many years and a sweeter lady you won't find. She was always kind to my family and myself and we loved her. When I came as a stranger to the church at Santuck, she welcomed me warmly, and she always spoke. I spent many Sunday night services sitting with her and Mrs. Martha Sanford, and they always included me in their conversations. She was a dear sweet lady.
