Rebecca Dickson ""Becky"" Godwin Nashville - Rebecca Dickson "Becky" Godwin, age 70, passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 Born in Leavenworth County, KS on May 13, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Col. Dwight B. Dickson and Myra Green Dickson. She was also preceded in death by her son, John Godwin and her brother, Berry Dickson.

Becky, as she was known to all her family and friends, was born in Ft. Leavenworth Kansas. Being the daughter of a Colonel in the US Army, she grew up all over the world. Her early childhood was spent in Hawaii, Germany, and Japan. When her father retired from the military, the family settled in Fayetteville where Becky attended Fayetteville Senior High School. It was in her sophomore year at just 15 years old, that she met the love of her life, Earl Howard Godwin. After she graduated from Sanford Central High School, she and Howard were married. They soon welcomed their first son, John Howard Godwin, into the world. They quickly added to their family their second son, Robert Thomas Godwin II. Becky was a loyal and devoted wife and mother.

Becky attended Alamance Technical College where she earned a degree as a dental assistant. She and Howard moved to Rocky Mount in 1978 where she was employed by Dr. John Hartness. She later joined Dr. Jack Mullen and his team until her retirement. She worked as a dental assistant and served the citizens of Rocky Mount for over 20 years.

Becky is survived by her husband of 52 years, Howard Godwin; her son, Robert, "Bobby" Godwin and his wife, Anne of Aventon; her grandchildren, Emily, Rachael, and John Bennett Godwin of Aventon; Madilyn Godwin of Greenville, Reagan Godwin of Hilliardston; her brother, Col. Bennett Dickson of Kansas; her sister, Susan Brown of Reidsville, NC.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Becky's life will be held on Sunday, February 26, 2023 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 1130 N. Winstead Ave., Rocky Mount, NC 27804 with Rev. Keith Griffin officiating. Visitation with the family will be from 1:00 PM to 1:45 PM prior to the service at the Atrium of Wheeler & Woodlief Funeral Home and Cremation Services.

Flowers are welcome and memorials may be made in Becky's name to Nash UNC Health Care Hospice & Palliative Care, 2460 Curtis Ellis Drive, Rocky Mount, NC 27804.
