Although I never really got a chance to get to know Becky better or kept in touch with her, but Becky is not someone whom you make the acquaintance and forgets easily.

I tagged along to visit both Becky n Lenny once in their home many years ago and our subsequent meetings were mainly by chance.

How do I remember Becky or rather, how can I forget someone like Becky.....

Most people keep dogs & cats as home pets, but Becky kept ducks.
I was initially a bit uncomfortable in their house... How can I not be...there running happily around were her cute pet ducks whom she adores, and here I am, feeling guilty because of my love for Peking duck!!!
I told myself, if we ever have to discuss about favorite foods, I better remember to stick to fish!!!

One New Year's eve, we met in Chinatown. She and Lenny took her mom to join the evening's festivity. Towards the end of the evening as we were walking back to the car, we bumped into them again. Becky n her mom were sitting by the side walk pavement. She told us with concern that her mom sprained her feet. We kept them company while waiting for Lenny to bring the car.

Ingrained in my mind is this image of a beautiful & friendly lady with sweet smiles, soft spoken, gentle and demure in nature. A filial daughter with a big, big heart. Caring for the voiceless and loving God's children in all forms, sizes and shapes.

It is a little over a year since Becky left us, this special lady lightly graced my life, yet made an ever lasting impression.

Happy First Anniversary, Becky.
You are not forgotten.

Dear Lenny,

Our thoughts are with you today, as you and your family and friends gather to honor Becky's life. Wish we could be there to support you and to celebrate the beautiful person she was. Our Hawaii visits will not be the same without our dinners together.

Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Lenny,
My thoughts are with you tonight as we all prepare to honor Becky tomorrow. She was such a wonderful, special person. And though I only had a few years to spend with her and a short time to get to know her, what struck me immediately were her kind, caring eyes, beautiful smile and gentle ways. It was easy to see how much she loved you too.
I know she will be with us tomorrow as we all search for the words to thank her for the difference she made in so many lives. Tonight my prayers are with you - that God will give you peace that Becky is at his side in a heavenly place and we are all here to be at your side during this difficult time.
Blessing,

Dear Lenny and family,

In 1973, I was hired at Hawaiian Dredging, my very first full-time job. Initially, I worked in the personnel department, but after a few months, I transferred to the accounting department and worked in accounts payable. My desk was right beside that of Becky's, and that was the beginning of our friendship. I can still picture her after all these years. She was so beautiful, with those big eyes and gorgeous hair! She taught me the ropes and even taught me how to use the ten-key adding machine. (I was laboriously punching numbers with one finger, and Becky noticed that right away). Becky was patient, understanding, and generous. She loved to laugh. And boy, could she hold her liquor!

I left in December of 1974 for another job. Although it has been many years since then, I remember Becky fondly. We worked together for only ten months or so, and we did not maintain contact, yet she made an indelible impression on me. I think it was because she was so beautiful, both inside and out. She was soft-spoken but very confident in herself. Lenny, please relay my deepest sympathy to the members of your family. God bless you, and may Becky rest in peace.

Aloha,

Charlene (Fukushima) Ochiae

Dear Lenny,
So much history and so many memories. You and Becky have always been, and forever will be, very much a part of our lives. You became family to us at Queensgate; Becky helped to give us our daughter's Hawaiian name; she watched her grow up and when we moved to the mainland, Becky was always interested in her life. Becky will always be Jennifer 's Aunty 'Bucky'. We will miss her. Our hearts will mend with one part missing forever. Lenny, you are in our thoughts.

Lenny - I'm so sorry to get this news. You and I are members of the same lousy club; my late wife Carol Johnson also succumbed to lung cancer about 20 years ago (she was in EMBA 2). It will take some time to resolve yourself to this but I'm sure you have a large bank of great memories to draw on and that will help, believe me. Meanwhile, Becky's suffering is over with. Remind yourself what a lucky guy you have been. My best wishes and condolences, my friend, and you will be OK in the long run. Your however many years with Becky are in the bank.
