Rebecca R Rankin

Rankin, Rebecca R., aged 62 of New York, NY and formerly of Orange County, CA, Washington, D.C., Denver, the San Francisco Bay Area and Singapore, passed away on November 11, 2017 near Memorial Sloane Kettering Cancer Center in New York where she had been receiving treatment. She was born to Joseph and Ruby Samuel in Singapore on November 7, 1955. Rebecca was one of the first women to graduate from Law School at the National University of Singapore. In 1980, Rebecca immigrated to California and started her career in management with Bank of America. On May 11, 1989, Rebecca (Samuel) married James P. Rankin in Palos Verdes, CA. Throughout their marriage, Rebecca and her husband traveled to more than 50 countries including several trips annually to Singapore. In 2007, Rebecca graduated from Chapman University with an M.S. Degree in Organizational Leadership. Rebecca ended the final 10 years of her career with Behr paints in Santa Ana, CA where she was Director of more than 100 Customer Service representatives nationwide. Rebecca led through inspiration, commitment and her tireless spirit - and her unforgettable, uplifting laugh. Rebecca is survived by her husband, James, and her brother, Reverend Raphael Samuel as well as countless aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services were held at Mount Vernon Sanctuary in Singapore. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, consider a donation to a local charity.
