Rebecca Lynne "Beki" Shaw

Rebecca Lynne Shaw passed away on February 12, 2009. Beki is survived by her husband Troy Shaw, her parents Lyn and Jim Morris, and her siblings Jayme Newbigging, Kari Angeline, Billy Morris, her nephew Evan Angeline and her grandparents Roger Morris and Marty Wilson. Beki graduated from Tahoma High School in 2002 then went to Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake where she played on their volleyball team and of course studied aviation. Beki then transferred to Central Washington University, where she worked as a dispatcher at Midstate Aviation, eventually earning her bachelor's degree in flight technology in 2006. Beki then moved to Arizona where she became a flight instructor. Beki picked Arizona because she would be able to spend the most time in the air without the weather interrupting her quest to become an airline pilot. In January of 2008 Beki moved to the east coast to continue living her dream working for Colgan Air as a first officer.

Beki will always be remembered for her zest for life, her amazing smile, caring heart, and her love for flying. Beki enjoyed investing in the lives of those she knew and loved encouraging others. Beki loved her family so much, both the one she was born into and the one she married into. Beki was blessed to find true love at a young age and was able to marry her soul mate Troy in her parent's back yard in 2007.

Services will be held on Wednesday February 25, 2009 at The Museum of Flight in Seattle at 1:00 in the afternoon. A Rebecca Shaw Memorial Scholarship Fund for Female Aviators has been set up and donations can be made to the CWU Foundation in her name.
