Erika Aron Holder was born on June 13, 1989, to Aron and Cynthia (Hubert) Holder in Burnsville, MN. She was immediately diagnosed with the birth defect of Spina Bifida. Although this was very challenging, Erika always kept a positive attitude about it and never let it get her down. Erika was confirmed at Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church in Terrace, MN and grew up in Glenwood, MN. She attended Minnewaska Area School District and later transferred to Jefferson Senior High School where she graduated in 2010. While in high school, Erika enjoyed singing in choir and participating in Adaptive Bowling, where she earned many gold and silver metals.
Erika worked at Alexandria Opportunities Center, packaging and assembling. She did her job very well and optimistically, which earned her employee of the month. She loved to embroider, work on adult coloring books, and puzzles, play cards and Mancala, being around people, and fishing and hunting with her dad. She was electronically savvy, very social, known to be a "hugger", had a good sense of humor, was easy to talk to, compassionate, and went out of her way to cheer up others. Erika's mom was her primary caregiver and they both felt very blessed for the time and bond they were able to share together. One of her most recent joys and pride was being an aunt to her niece, Maya. Erika was a true light in this world and she will be missed by all who knew her.
Erika passed away peacefully in her home with her mom by her side at the age of 33. She is survived by her mother, Cindy Holder; father, Aron Holder; brother, Sean Holder; niece, Maya Holder; grandmother, Judy (Harlan) Hubert-Heidecker, grandfather, Larry Holder; significant other, Travis Schmidt, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Erika is preceded in death by grandparents, Gerald Hubert, Kathy (Larry) Gilbertson, and Dorothy Holder.
A visitation will be held from 2:00-4:00 PM on Thursday, September 29, 2022 at Anderson Funeral Home.
