Reeves Broussard Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 27, 2024.
Alpharetta - Reeves Stewart Andrew Broussard, age 31, of Alpharetta, Georgia, passed away on Monday, September 23, 2024, from complications of a brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM).

Reeves was born in 1993, in Athens, Georgia, to his loving parents, Charlie and Frankie Broussard. Reeves lived in Georgia, Alabama, and then spent two years in Saudi Arabia before returning to the Athens area with his family.

Reeves was involved in the Boy Scouts, achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. His Eagle Scout project still stands proudly at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia in Athens. He was proud of the religious medals he earned during scouting, especially the one presented to him by Archbishop Wilton Gregory.

Reeves graduated from Oconee County High School in 2011. He participated on the cross-country and track teams and was a class officer his senior year.

Despite his parents being avid Bulldog fans, Reeves decided to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology. This proved a great decision as he met incredible friends and flourished academically at Tech. While his degree was in computer science, he also graduated with a minor in Technology and Management (T&M), which expanded his network of friends at Tech. In his initial interview for the T&M program, Reeves said one of his goals was to "make a difference in at least one person's life every day."

At Georgia Tech, Reeves was a member of the Theta Xi Christian Fraternity where he served as president his senior year. He was deeply involved at the Georgia Tech Catholic Center, which was instrumental in developing his spiritual growth in the Catholic faith. He was excited to be accepted for an internship with Boeing as a sophomore and spent three summers with Boeing in Seattle, Washington, and Charleston, South Carolina.

Upon graduation from Georgia Tech in 2015, Reeves began his work career with the IT division of General Motors in Roswell, Georgia. He quickly demonstrated his exceptional computer and people skills and was known as the go-to person to get things done. More recently, Reeves found his new work home with the corporate team at Chick-fil-A as a Senior Software Engineer. In addition to his actual career, Reeves served as his family's personal IT consultant.

Reeves was deeply involved in his Catholic faith, which began at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Athens, Georgia, then the Georgia Tech Catholic Center in college. After college he joined St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Alpharetta, Georgia, where he served in various roles including Life Teen leader, Parish Council Advisory Board, and High School Confirmation Ministry. His love of the Lord and desire to grow in his faith led Reeves to complete a three-year course through the Bible Training Center for Leaders. Most recently, Reeves was an active member at St. Brigid Catholic Church in Johns Creek, Georgia. Here he found a rich community of men who served alongside him in the "Renewed in Christ" welcome weekend. Reeves also joined the St. Brigid Young Adult Ministry leadership team.

Reeves was always looking for a challenge and wanted to achieve certain goals in his life, which led him to complete his first marathon, the Columbus Marathon in October of 2022. His long hair and beard at the time had onlookers wondering if Forest Gump was running.

Reeves had a passion for music, travel, and baking. Above all, his greatest passion was his relationships with family and friends. Whether it was lunch, dinner, coffee, dessert, or even a phone call, he loved spending time with and celebrating the people in his life.

Reeves is survived by his parents, Charlie and Frankie Broussard; his sister Meredith (Chad) Malinak, nieces Grace and Brigid, and nephew Landry; his grandfather Ray Broussard; his grandmother Selina Kent; his grandmother Linda Reeves; his uncle Eddie (Stephanie) Reeves and cousins Bailey and Rucker; his aunt Serena (John) Martin; his uncle Ed (Diana) Broussard and cousins Victoria (Melvin) Rivera, Chris, and Sean; his uncle David (Roberta) Broussard and cousins Rhiannon and Alistair; and many loving family members.

The family wishes to express gratitude to everyone for their support during this difficult time, especially his friend and roommate Michael Bonifacio and dear friend Rebecca Juneau, who helped spread the word for prayers. The outpouring of support and love was evident at the Organ Donor Honor Walk and Flag Raising at the hospital, where close to two hundred people participated in celebrating Reeves' final sacrifice. Even in death, Reeves gave the gifts of life to others through the selfless act of organ donation.

A funeral Mass will be held for Reeves on Friday, October 4, 2024, at 11 am at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 3400 Old Alabama Road, Johns Creek, Georgia 30022. There will be a reception celebrating Reeves's life to follow.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of the following churches: St. Brigid Catholic Church, Johns Creek, Georgia, St. Joseph Catholic Church, Athens, Georgia, or the Georgia Tech Catholic Center, Atlanta, Georgia. Donations can also be made in memory of Reeves Broussard to The Aneurysm and AVM Foundation (TAAF) (taafonline.org).

I can't say how devastated I feel losing such a wonderful young man that was my nephew. He was like another son that grew up with my kids, racing grandpa's golf cart through the yard, helping out with any event or IT need that baffled us old folks. My children have lost a dear cousin that seemed so much more. Bless you and I will forever miss you Reeves.
