Rehana Allidina Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 15, 2009.
ALLIDINA , Rehana Sheeraz September 19, 1979 - August 12, 2009 Rehana Allidina, beloved daughter of Shahida and Sheeraz Allidina, and wife of Rahim Kanji, and sister of Faheem (and Jabeen) Allidina of Calgary, passed away suddenly after being involved in a tragic accident on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at the tender age of 29 years. Born in Calgary, Rehana attended West Island College and then went on to the University of Calgary where she obtained her Bachelors degree in Business. This past June, she completed her MBA from Queens University and was focused on her relentless pursuit up the corporate ladder in Calgary's Oil & Gas Strategy/Procurement field, most recently with Encana. For "Rena", as her older brother always referred to her as, there was never an obstacle that she could not overcome. She carried with her a sense of perseverance and work ethic which was inspirational to all. As a beautiful and vibrant child, she was filled with energy and had a never-ending list of interests from gymnastics, to reading, to her family travels throughout the world. Growing up, she developed into an avid fitness enthusiast as she loved to play hockey, rollerblade, hike, tennis, bike, and made good use of the Bankers Hall Club gym. Never one to pass up a chance to capture the moments of her life on camera, Rehana was a true photobug documenting what seemed to be every instance she shared with friends and family. A truly selfless and generous woman, Rehana will sorely be missed by all. Her kindness, huge heart, and perfect smile served as great comfort to her friends, but moreso to her husband and parents whom she loved to spoil. The best of kid sisters, she played the part perfectly by supporting her older brother through thick and thin, right and wrong. Sharing in our loss just as equally will be the hundreds of friends and associates upon whom she touched with her incredible spirit and love for life over her short 29 years. We will all enormously miss her physical departure from our world, but pray that her soul rests in eternal peace, while we forever cherish the memories of her time with us. We will miss you Rehana. Funeral Services will be held at the Ismaili Jamat Khana & Centre (4623 - 11 Street N.E.) on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Rocky View Garden of Peace. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com . In living memory of Rehana Allidina, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: 403-243-8200.

Dear Rehana,

I am still in disbelief about what has happened. Many of your friends, and family cannot even believe this has happened. Everyday I pray that you rest in eternal peace, and that you continue watching down on us. I am so grateful to have had you as a cousin. I wish that I had got to know you more when we were growing up, but I am thankful that during your last years we were close.
I will always remember you,

A.N

Dear Rehana,

We lost touch the last few years and I am sorry we did... I can't believe you are now gone. I can honestly say that I did think of you often, you are a hard woman to forget.

Whenever Sunil and I went hiking, I remembered how easily you would breeze by me on the steepest inclines and the hardest parts of the trek. You had the most amazing stamina, energy and determination to complete all that you ever attempted, and it often kept me chugging along on our trek and it reminded me to do the same through other life experiences.

I wish we kept in touch...I regret that we didn't...I guess I always thought we would one day run into each other and maybe be able to pick up where we left off. There is a great loss without you here on this earth, but I do trust that you are in a beautiful place and Sunil and I will always pray that you are at peace.

To the Alidina family, we are praying for all of you that you will somehow find strenghth in the incredible memories you have of your beautiful daughter from nurturing her as a baby to guiding her as a young woman. She always told me how close she was to all of you and that you truly meant the world to her.

Rahim, we pray for you as well, that you too will find strenghth in the memories, the simple touches and her crazy contagious smile, and that these are the memories that will carry you through.

God bless,
Sheena and Sunil

Dear Rehana,

I hope this letter finds you in heaven. I’m sure it will because I asked for it to be delivered to the most beautiful, intelligent, humorous, athletic, and ambitious woman up there. It’s so hard to fathom that the individual with the most energy, determination and passion for living life to the fullest that I (and many others) ever knew has suddenly vanished. I wish everyday that it’s a bad dream and that you’ll wake up any moment.

In the meantime, I thought I would write to you and say that you are constantly in my heart, in my thoughts, and in my prayers. Hundreds of your closest friends and family are in the same boat. In fact, I’m certain we created a river on the day of your funeral with all our collective tears. The world as we know it just isn’t the same without you. I love you more than you can ever imagine and I miss you terribly – always have and always will.

I can’t stop thinking of the many conversations we used to have about the trials and tribulations known as “the roller coaster of life. What an unimaginable roller coaster it’s been. And you know I hate roller coasters. Three years ago we were at life’s ultimate peak when we got married. It was the thrill of a lifetime and without a doubt the happiest day of my life. I know I’m a bit scared of heights but I would have been perfectly content just hanging out at the top with you.

We always knew the journey consisted of some pretty bizarre twists and turns but going from the peak to what we all experienced on August 12, 2009 is absolutely unbearable.

Our faith teaches us there is a reason for everything and we have full trust that you are in a better place but it is nonetheless still the most difficult of difficult times for us down here. Wherever you are, I want you to know that I will never forget you and I will pray for your soul to rest in eternal peace each and every day.

Rehana, your spirit still resides deeply inside of me and I can feel it strong as ever. I will carry this with me for so long as I live and try my best to ensure it resides in many others for years to come.

Ours really was a love story and I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart. I will cherish my time with you forever.

Love,
Rahim

Rehana,
My first memory of you was at a ball hockey game in the NE. I remember how amazed I was with your hockey skills. I remember thinking, wow- another brown girl who loves hockey and actually knows how to play! I am so glad that Travis invited you to our other games and that you continued to come as that was the reason we became friends.
My last memory of you is in Isha's bedroom when you came to visit a few weeks ago. You just had to see her eventhough she was fast asleep. I could'nt say no because of the excitement you had in your eyes. Of course, you somehow managed to wake her. I'll never forget the look on your face when you said "she's awake!"

Rehana, you taught us a lot about life. I have never met a more amazing person than you. Just amazing.

We will never ever forget you.
Love, Rupi, Travis and Isha

Rehana, I miss you so much....I can't believe you are gone. I cherish all our good times we've had over these past 15 or so years, ever since our days at WIC.
I wish you didn't leave me. But I'm so happy to have had the privilege of being your best friend. You are like a sister to me. You are one of the kindest, most caring people I know, with the nicest smiles ever. You were beautiful, both inside and out.
One day, I know we will meet again. I love you, my guardian angel, and hope that you rest in peace.
